Corporate Communication Manager

1 Position
 
Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Communication Manager will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other business heads in developing and implementing the public relations strategy of the Society to protect and enhance the Society reputation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement sound corporate communication and public relations strategies.
  • Develop external communication agenda through effective external communications plans, channels, tools and relationships across the Society to ensure effective, timely and consistent public relations and media communication and engagement.
  • Ensure effective relationship and stakeholder management at a strategic level, acting as a point of contact and representative both internally and externally.
  • Develop and implementation of the Society annual corporate affairs plan and budget against the agreed targets.
  • Inform various publics about Society policies, activities, products and services so that maximum knowledge and understanding is achieved.
  • Ensure that the Society dress code is observed by all the members of staff.
  • Uphold Society corporate image and organising Society branding and communication activities.
  • Content development and strong editorial skills for purposes of speech writing and editing, digital communications and social medial engagement.
  • Monitor closely and record keeping of all critical data and information for both internal and external publics.
  • Develop and reinforcement of corporate presence during planned Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
  • Organise and oversee the Society corporate events and calendar.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, PR or International Relations.
  • Masters qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience, of which three (3) should have been at a level of management.
  • Professional qualification in Public Relations or related areas.
  • Be a current registered member of Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
Competence and Personal Attributes
  • Clear understating of customer and customer needs and wants.
  • Very strong English writing skills.
  • Ability to advise senior management and internal stakeholders on communications strategies and initiatives.
  • Strong business acumen and be highly dependable.
  • Business relationship building skills.
  • Clear understanding of the Public Relations code of ethics.

Manager Legal Services

1 Position
 
Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with respective business heads, the Manager, Legal Services shall head the Legal Department and shall handle all legal and contractual matters of the Society and will be responsible for the supervision of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Legal Department and implement strategies to safeguard the Society interests.
  • Participate in negotiating, drawing, reviewing and vetting of contracts, leases and other legal instruments / documentation to assist and support various business transactions and activities.
  • Provide legal protection and risk management advice to the management especially on contract management and other activities that have a bearing on legal matters.
  • Interpret legal texts for the Society and assist management in interpreting and applying statutes, rules and regulations to ensure compliance of the Society.
  • Participate in preparing and or represent the Society in judicial proceedings regarding enforcement of laws, rules and regulations to protect the interests of the Society.
  • Providing secretarial duties to the Board of Directors.
  • Provide legal opinions/advice on legal implications on internal policies, procedures and other business matters affecting the Society.
  • Maintain legal database of the Society including recording information on on-going cases for the Society, monitoring of the cases and liaising with the advocates and the business to ensure successful completion of matters.
  • Review of legal forms and filling requirements of SASRA and other regulatory authorities.
  • Provide support in planning and coordinating the annual general meeting (AGM) and special meetings of the Society.
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly/quarterly reports and responsible for performance of staff in the legal department.
  • Provide advice on all aspects of Corporate Governance.
Key Qualifications
  • Holder of LLB degree from a recognised University.
  • Masters and Post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Certified Public Secretary (CPS) (K) will be an added advantage.
  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in good standing.
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in providing legal services in a commercial environment, of which three (3) should have been at a level of management.
  • Experience/exposure in handling Board affairs as a Secretary in Board meetings.
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate operations, corporate law, law of contracts, labour laws and regulatory law.

  • String leadership and managerial skills with good planning and organisational skills;
  • Strong communication, analysis writing and presentation skills in both English and Kiswahili

Procurement Manager
1 Position
 
Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with respective business heads, the position holder will be responsible for the supervision of procurement and inventory operations minimising the process costs, duplication, time wastage while ensuring quality and value creation of the procurement process in accordance to the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005, and the Sacco Procurement policies and manual and specifically:
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and review the Society procurement strategy.
  • Interpret, implement and enforce the public procurement regulations and procedures in compliance with the legal guidelines.
  • Develop the Society procurement plan, review existing procedures and supervise the procurement function periodically.
  • Coordinate internal monitoring and evaluation of the procurement and inventory function in the Society to ensure the systems are adhered to
  • Coordinate and prepare bidding documents and invite tenders/quotations for advertisement, opening and evaluation.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of Society supplies
  • Design and implement an effective, efficient and up to date procurement and disposal systems for the Society.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department in relation to budgetary provisions to ensure smooth payment by processing the supplier payment requests.
  • Form, manage and constantly develop the capacity of both the procurement and tendering committees.
  • Liaise with the functional heads in organising for specification of goods and services for procurement, coordinate purchases requirements form user departments and functions.
  • Manage and develop the procurement team to ensure that they are effective when executing their roles.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly reports and timely submission accordingly.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to manage costs and improve effectiveness.
  • Secretary to the tender and ensures implementation of tender committee decisions.
  • Advise the tender committee on a regular basis on all matters pertaining to procurement.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supplies, Logistics, Procurement or any other relevant field.
  • Master’s degree qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain or related areas will be an added advantage.
  • Professional qualification in procurement, Supply Chain or related areas qualification.
  • Must be a current member of a reputable procurement related professional body.
  • Over five (5) years’ experience, three (3) of which should be in a supervisory role.
  • Be a current registered member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management or Chartered Institute of Supplies Management.
Competence and Personal Attributes
  • Good Leadership and Supervisory skills.
  • Initiative and drive and can perform and meet expectations with minimum supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of Public Procurement Act, Regulations and procedures.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
