We currently have an exciting career opportunity for Assistant Branch Accountant. 

The post holders will report to the Branch Accountant and will be based in Mombasa.

Role Purpose:
 Efficiently attending to day to day duties in accounting department 

Responsibilities
  • Collecting premium from brokers, agents and direct account holders in conjunction with the branch manager and Branch Accountant
  • Preparing petty cash vouchers, reconciling the same and requesting for reimbursement from Head Office
  • Be the custodian of petty cash at the branch an liaise with the branch accountant and the branch manager for reimbursement by head office
  • Assisting the Branch accountant in credit control and regularly submitting reports for the meetings
  • Continuously appraising the existing control procedures in accounts to ensure they are effective and where need be recommend to The Branch Accountant for enhancement when considered necessary
  • Preparing accurate monthly statements for all intermediaries
  • Preparing Commission schedule for all intermediaries on monthly basis
  • Ensure daily banking of all Revenue collected under supervision and consultation of the branch accountant
  • Act as back up Cashier
  • Assist the Branch accountant in reconciliation of all the revenue collected
  • In the absence of the Branch accountant, confirm premium payment
  • Do any other duty as may be assigned by the Branch accountant or the Branch Manager

Qualification and Experience
 
Academic Qualifications
  • B com (Accounting option) from a recognized university or any other recognized accounting body
  • CPA Part 2 minimum
Functional Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in accounting operations
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office and Accounting packages
Relevant Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years accounting experience in a reputable organization
