The Institute of Certified Public
Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is the professional organization for Certified
Public Accountants in Kenya established in 1978 by the then Accountants Act,
CAP 531 subsequently repealed to Accountants Act no. 15 of 2008.
In its endeavor on institutional
strengthening, ICPAK is seeking to recruit dynamic, self-driven and results
oriented individuals to fit in a team meant to make it a world class
Professional Accountancy Organization.
Job Summary: The Legal Services Manager shall head the Legal
Services Department and shall handle all legal and contractual matters at the
Institute.
He / She shall assist the Chief
Executive in serving as the Secretary to the Council.
Job Profile
The Manager Legal Services shall
report to the Chief Executive and shall perform the following duties and
responsibilities as stated here below:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Legal
Services Department and implement strategies to safeguard Institute
interests.
- Ensuring the Institute’s continued compliance
with the Accountants Act, the Companies Act and any relevant laws and
regulations as is required.
- Participating in negotiating, drawing,
reviewing and vetting of contracts, leases, and other legal instruments /
documentation to assist and support various business transactions and
activities.
- Provide legal protection and risk management
advice to management especially on contract management and other
activities that have a bearing on legal matters.
- Managing litigation and liaising with external
lawyers on court cases.
- Investigation and disciplinary services in
respect of cases involving members and auditing firms.
- Participate in settlement of cases and
arbitration of disputes to protect organizational interests.
- Participating in negotiations of treaties and
contracts between the Institute and other parties/organizations.
- Providing legal opinions/advice on legal
implications on internal policies, procedures and other business matters
affecting the Institute.
- Interpreting legal instruments and statutes.
- Keeping the Institute abreast on developments
in the legal field.
- Safe custody of Institute’s legal documents,
records and securities.
- Coordinating and organizing for the Annual
General Meeting (AGM) and special meetings of ICPAK members.
- Assist the Chief Executive in Council affairs
of the Institute and serving as the Secretary to the Council
- Ensure that the institute complies with
regulations and conditionalities associated with membership of regional
and international organizations.
- Coordinate preparation of monthly/quarterly
reports and responsible for performance of staff in the Legal Services
Department
Person Profile
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)
- Masters Degree and postgraduate qualifications
will be an added advantage
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Certified Public Secretary (CPS) (K) will be
an added advantage
- Member of the Law Society of Kenya
- 8 years continuous experience in legal
services of which five (5) years should have been at the level of
Management.
- Experience/exposure in handling Board affairs
as Secretary in Board meetings
- Excellent knowledge of corporate operations,
corporate law, law of contracts, labour laws and regulatory law.

to development and regulation of the accountancy profession in Kenya so as to
enhance its contribution and that of its members to national economic growth
and development.

Job Summary: The Assistant Manager ICT shall be responsible
for effective operation, support, security and continual improvement of
existing business applications, computer hardware and networks.
Job Profile
The Assistant Manager ICT shall report to the Manager, ICT and shall perform the following duties and responsibilities as stated here below:
- Support the Manager ICT to provide strategic
leadership to the ICT Department and implement strategies to safeguard
Institute interests.
- Server, Systems and network support and
administration
- Installation and support services on
LANs,WANs, network segments, internet and other ICT systems.
- Document business requirements for ICT
systems, analyze impact of software changes, prepare technical
specifications, develop, configure and perform unit tests as well as
provide necessary support during all stages of development
- Provide systems documentation and use
manuals
- Analyze user training needs with regard to ICT
systems and organize and execute such trainings as and when need
arises
- Advise on, implement and maintain system
security and user access controls with regard to ICT systems
- Analysis, design, programming and
implementation of systems
- Involvement in ICT automation of operations,
project implementations, project rollouts, project improvements and system
integration projects
- Manage contractual relationships between ICT
service providers and the Institute
- Ensure Implementation of the ERP as per
approved schedule and recommend effective solutions to the ERP system,
processes and customization in line with the Institute’s strategic plan
- Develop new and innovative ICT solutions
(intranet, web systems, etc) and/or improve existing systems to solve
existing problems and ensure optimal and secure utilization of ICT
- Offer ICT support, installation, maintenance
and advice services to users with regard to software, hardware,
networking, website updating, backups etc.
- Perform any other lawful duties as may be
assigned
Person Profile
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or IT
related field
- Professional qualifications in CISA / Systems
Administration / Server Administration / Diploma in ICT / programming and
related fields required
- 6 years working experience in a busy ICT
environment
- Experience/exposure in developing and
supporting ERP systems
- Experience/exposure in developing and
supporting web applications
- Experience/exposure in computer networking,
hardware and software support
- Experience/exposure in Telephone and Data
Networking
- Experience in Intranet systems
- Experience/exposure in Database design and
development
- Exposure in development and support of web
based applications
- Exposure in process automation, systems
development, deployment and review
- Exposure in ERP or integrated systems
