Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Lewa), based in Isiolo Kenya, is an organization that works as a catalyst and a model for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat. 

We are looking for a high calibre, self-driven and dedicated candidate with a commitment to excellence to fill the following vacancy to enhance our Healthcare Programme:

Pharmaceutical Technologist
 
Reporting to the Healthcare Programme Administrator, this position is responsible for dispensing medication and maintaining appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical supplies in the healthcare programme.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Custody and accountability for all drugs, laboratory reagents and other clinic consumables;
  • Interpret and dispense prescription medications and post the issues in the accounting software;
  • Maintaining approved levels of drugs and non-pharmaceutical supplies in the healthcare programme;
  • Monitor patient medication compliance;
  • Identify patient’s drug-related problems and effectively communicate with the clinicians.
Job Specifications
 
The job holder must possess:
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or its equivalent;
  • Registration by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
  • 3 years experience as a pharmaceutical technologist;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills;
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and technology;
  • Above 25 years of age;
  • High level of integrity and independence; and
  • Ready to start working immediately.

Healthcare Programme Administrator
 
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, this position is responsible for the overall coordination and management of clinical services to employees and members of the contiguous communities as per the established Lewa healthcare programme policies and procedures.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overall management, coordination and oversight of all activities of the healthcare programme;
  • Maintain nursing guidelines by implementing policies in the clinics;
  • Coordinate and enforce clinic programmes, operational and personnel policies and procedures;
  • Supervise the staff in all the clinics, provide leadership, guidance and review performance of staff reporting to the title;
  • Review existing healthcare standard operating procedures (SOPs) from time to time to align with emerging changes in healthcare management;
  • Oversight of management of drugs and nonpharmaceutical products, from their requisition, procurement, receiving, storage, dispensing and issuing to satellite facilities;
  • Addressing healthcare programme donors, writing proposals and taking responsibility for preparation of all healthcare related reports;
  • Ensuring that the healthcare programme complies with all statutory requirements.
Job Specifications
 
The ideal candidate must possess:
  • A diploma in clinical medicine, nursing or their equivalent and a diploma in healthcare management;
  • Certification and registration as a Clinical Officer/Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse;
  • 5 years practical experience with a two year preference healthcare facility leadership/management role;
  • Clear understanding of hospital economics, labour relations, human resources with proven management skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to manage stress;
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and technology;
  • High level of integrity and independence;
  • Above 35 years of age; and
  • Ready to start working immediately
