NGO Director of Programs Job in Nairobi Kenya

Centers for International Programs - Kenya: ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Services in five counties in Kenya. 

This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Job Title:
 Director of Programs
 
Location: Nairobi with travel to ICAP sites in the regions
 
Overall Job Function: The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior technical in-country staff and will oversee the implementation of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Programming. 

Specifically, the appointee will be responsible for planning and coordination of Prevention, Care and Treatment activities at ICAP supported facilities. 

Providing strong leadership to a team of implementers will be an integral part of the job.


Key Responsibilities:
  • To oversee the planning, initiation and implementation of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services at ICAP-supported facilities
  • To provide supervision of program officers work
  • To provide on-going supervision of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment programs
  • To approve procurement of equipment and consumables
  • To coordinate training of facility staff including mentorship
  • To assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • To liaise with Ministry of Health, County officials and other stakeholders in coordinating implementation of the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • MD preferably with Masters in Public Health (MPH) or similar degree
  • 5+ years experience in program planning
  • Experience with HIV programming
  • Familiarity with County/district health care programs in Kenya
  • Clinical experience of HIV medicine an advantage.
