The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is a public Institute established in 1999 to support public policy by contributing to the formulation of medium and long-term strategic perspectives for development of the country as well as developing the required human and institutional capacities by undertaking economic forecasting, policy analysis and research, and through capacity building for the achievement of Vision 2030. 

It is governed by the KIPPRA Act No. 15 of 2006.

To meet the growing demand for its services, KIPPRA invites qualified, experienced and dynamic candidates to fill the following position:


Job Title: Principal Policy Analyst

Grade: KIP 3

Supervisor: Programmes Coordinator
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: Senior Policy Analysts, Policy Analysts, Assistant Researchers
 

Position Summary / Purpose: As the Head of the Division, the Principal Analyst will be expected to provide technical guidance in the management of the Division as well as being responsible for Divisional deliverables

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all the activities of the division
  • Ensure cost effective and timely preparation of work plans
  • Provide technical leadership of the division’s research and capacity building programmes
  • Preparation of divisional quarterly and annual reports
  • Managing the staff performance through appraisals as per the Institute policies
  • Participating in management and any other meetings as advised by the Executive Director
  • Chair seminars and meetings, be discussant to papers as per institute requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders for the divisions mandate, including policy makers and implementers, development partners and other research institutions
  • Provide advice on a regular basis on ways to improve divisional performance
  • Ensuring effective management of the work programme addressing and reconciling the conflicting priorities
Qualifications
 
PhD in Economics, Social Sciences or related areas, and a minimum of Eight (8) years in policy research and analysis five (5) of which must be at post doctoral and managerial level. 

They should have at least 12 publications three (3) of which must be journal papers or journal quality publications.

Job Title: Senior Policy Analyst

Supervisor:
 Principal Policy Analyst
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: Policy Analyst I , II and III, Assistant Researchers
 

Position Summary: You will manage ongoing research and evaluation projects. 

Primary duties include supervising and evaluation of projects, contributing to new proposals, preparing evaluation reports, and writing grant applications.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the day-to-day execution of research projects;
  • Communicating the divisional research plan and its details to stakeholders;
  • Managing the collection of quantitative and qualitative data;
  • Dissemination of research findings and their implications to relevant stakeholders;
  • Writing research grant applications;
  • Reviewing and abstracting published research.
  • Supervising junior researchers
  • Participating in capacity building programmes in liaison with the Program coordinators Office
  • Serving in committees and task forces as appointed by the Executive Director
  • Publishing public policy research and analysis papers
  • Participate in the Preparation of annual work plans ,quarterly and annual performance reports
  • Participate in the Training of Young Professional.
Qualifications
 
Analysts must have at least a PHD. 

Six (6) years of experience in a policy research and analysis or teaching at a recognized university of which three (3) must be post PHD. 

They should have at least 9 (nine) publications, two (2) of which must be journal paper or journal quality publication.

Job Title: Policy Analyst I

Supervisor:
 Senior Analyst
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: Assistant Researcher, Junior Policy Analysts
 
Position Summary: The Analyst will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the research services offered by KIPPRA, particularly in the priority projects.

Key Responsibilities


  • Conducting research to support public policy, and drafting reports as part of the outreach activities to promote public policies in the Kenya;
  • Publishing public policy research and analysis papers such as books and book chapters, policy briefs, memoranda, media articles, journal articles and any other publications
  • Updating data acquired by KIPPRA and assuring the overall quality of this data through, among other things, the documentation of sources;
  • Disseminating and communicating research findings and offering other capacity building programs to stakeholders
  • Participate in the Preparation of annual work plans ,quarterly and annual performance reports
  • Participate in the Training KIPPRA Young Professionals
Qualifications
  • Analysts must have at least a MA/Msc. in Economics, Social Sciences and related areas, and at least four (4) years post MA/Msc. 
  • PHD is an added advantage.
  • They should have at least Seven (7) publications with at least one (1) journal paper or journal quality publication.
