Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya (WOFAK) is a national non-governmental organization founded and registered in Kenya in 1994 by a group of women most of whom had tested positive to HIV. 

The founding group had in mind an entity that would provide them with a forum for mutual support and empowerment. 

Since inception, WOFAK has continued to grow to its present status of a national network of women living with HIV and AIDS, contributing significantly to national efforts aimed at prevention and to provision of comprehensive care and support to women and children living with and affected by HIV and AIDS to enable them lead wholesome lives. 

WOFAK’s vision under strategic plan 2013-2017; was crafted along the Kenya National HIV and AIDS strategic plan (KNASP III) 2008-2013 which strives for a ‘Society free of HIV’. 

Today, WOFAK is visible in the Coast, Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley and Nairobi.

Job Summary: Responsible for timely, efficient, and safe transportation of authorized persons; conveyance and delivery of effects and goods; maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s) in a clean and mechanically sound condition; and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities
  • T.1 Perform driving duties as per assigned responsibilities, which include errands within the vicinity of the office location and long distance trips.
  • T.2 Keep the assigned vehicle/s in good running condition and perform routine daily checks (check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.) to ensure that the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • T.3 Perform pre–trip and post trip inspection of the vehicle and attend to any noted faults and defects.
  • T.4 Report to the supervisor immediately any mechanical defects and faults noted in the vehicle.
  • T.5 Ensure the safety of individuals using the vehicle.
  • T.6 Ensure that any goods and effects being transported by the vehicle are handled in a safe and cautious manner.
  • T.7 Keep the vehicle/s in a safe place both while at station and during trips.
  • T.8 Monitor vehicle mileage use and ensure that routine and regular service and maintenance is carried out within required run-times.
  • T.9 Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • T.10 Ensure a functional tool kit, spare tyre, first aid box, reflectors and fire extinguisher are kept in the vehicle at all times.
  • T.11 Maintain accurate daily vehicle usage work ticket/trips log, incident and accident reports, vehicle condition reports, fuel consumption reports, and any other reports that are requested from the management.
  • T.12 Maintain proper work ticket for vehicle usage and log all the trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • T.13 Carry out and maintain records for routine checks on the motor vehicle for oil, water, electrical and brake system, tyre pressure etc
  • T.14 Request service, repair and maintenance for motor vehicle as is appropriate
  • T.15 Maintain and submit on a monthly basis accurate, up to date records on trip sheets, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and any other reports that are requested from the management.
  • T.16 Ensure that the vehicle insurance policy is always valid and organize with the supervisor for its renewal at least one month in advance of expiry date.
  • T.17 Facilitate any inspections of the vehicle if required.
  • T.18 Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the management from time to time.
3. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (The knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education and prior experience or on-the-job-training).
 
a. Level of Education:
  • KCSE
b. Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications:
  • Must be a holder of a clean and valid driving license Class ‘ABCE’.
  • AA Certificate of competency.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Government Trade Test III on motor mechanics would be an added advantage
  • Training in Mechanics will be an added advantage
c. Competencies / Abilities / Skills Required:
  • Must have ability to work and relate well with people from diverse backgrounds, and handles people in a firm but highly respectful manner.
  • Ability to communicate well in English and Kiswahili and must be able to read and write both languages well.
  • Must be a person of unquestionable integrity.
  • Must be a well-organized individual who is able to coordinate tasks well and complies with given instructions.
  • Sufficient knowledge of rules and regulations of road transport of the country.
  • Ability to read and interpret road signs in English.
d. Job experience
  • At least THREE (3) years’ relevant work experience driving company vehicle (preferably within the NGO sector) with accident-free record

5. Authority/Decision Making: The job is performed in accordance with standard procedures and guidance with occasional need for independent decision.
 
6. Working Conditions
 
The job is conducted in an outside setting with several trips outside the work station. 

The work has continuous exposure to different weather conditions and motor vehicle and road transport traffic.
