RTI anticipates staffing the following expertise in long term job positions for donor funded Tusome Early Grade Reading and Tayari Early Childhood Development and Education Project. 

Tusome is focused on curriculum support, teacher training and teaching material development to improve the quality of early grade instruction in formal and non-formal schools through a reading intervention. 

Tayari is focused on pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills development for school readiness. 

The positions will be based in the counties of Nairobi, Eldoret, Nakuru, Mombasa, Wajir, Isiolo and Nanyuki.
 

Driver
2 Positions 
Locations: Wajir & Isiolo

Drive project / office staff members, consultants and other visitors on project / office business. 

S/he will ensure that the vehicles have all required registrations / licensing and inspections, and that necessary documentation is retained with the vehicle, sufficient amount of gas. 

He/she will maintain the vehicles’ cleanliness and its security and maintain a record of trips including kilometers traveled, fuel consumed and dates of oil changes, all according to established reporting framework. 

Required Qualifications and Experience: 
  • A minimum 5 years relevant experience with valid Kenya driver’s license; 
  • proof of good driving record; 
  • Previous work in the Not for Profit sector and familiarity is through rural terrain preferred. 
  • Oral and written English and Kiswahili language fluency 
  • Candidates from the local county locations preferred.
Program Assistant (Instructional Coaches) 
2 positions 
Location: Nairobi

Has the core responsibility of providing instructional support to the ECD teachers. 

S/he will be required to train ECD teachers on new approaches of teaching literacy and numeracy, and also support the teachers to implement the instruction. 

The appropriate candidate will observe teachers teaching literacy and numeracy lessons and will share feedback with the teacher after the lesson. 

S/he will use the tools in electronic tablets to assess pupils selected at random in languages and Math, to ascertain their skill level.

S/he works in a team with Tayari technical team including the Training Specialist, the Regional Education Officers and the Chief of Party on a day-to-day basis The Program Assistant is expected to devote 90% of his/her time to flied work. 

As a member of the Tayari Team, the position is responsible to contribute to improved learning outcomes and holistic development of the children at ECD level.

Required qualifications and experience:  

A minimum 5 years relevant experience in early grade childhood. 

S/he needs to have a Minimum of Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education and/or as P1 teacher in Kenya. 

S/he needs to have proven record in teacher training and teacher management.

 Knowledge of Early Grade Reading and Early Grade Math is an added advantage. 

Oral and written English and Kiswahili language fluency is required.
 
Admin Assistant

2 Positions

Locations: Wajir & Isiolo: ensures that administrative systems in the field office are conducted according to all RTI policies, client regulations, standard operating procedures and good business practices. 

In addition, he/she provides reception, secretarial, administrative and logistics support management to the field staff. 

She / he will facilitate effective communication between the Field Office, Project Office in Nairobi and its key clients and partners. 

Required qualifications and experience: A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience and a Higher Diploma in Administration or Secretarial studies; 

Additional qualification in office management, business management or accounting preferred.

Experience in logistics management, organizing workshops and training courses, preparing and monitoring budgets and petty cash management in an international organization preferred. 

Previous work in the Not for Profit sector and familiarity with donor reporting requirements is preferred. 

Candidates from the local county locations preferred.

The anticipated candidates are to support the TUSOME &TAYARI Projects on a need basis between 1week and 3 months assignment period. 

RTI focus on candidates who are currently not engage in any work assignments.
 
Temporary Distribution Monitor

90 Positions 

Location: Eldoret, Nairobi, Kisumu, Machakos, Nakuru, Nanyuki, Mombasa, Isiolo and Wajir): will works closely with the Regional Education Officer and is responsible for conducting the pre-distribution survey.

Support in monitoring the transporters progress to arrival to the specific drop-off points. 

She/ he will witness actual handover of books in selected drop-off points, confirm numbers in the boxes, obtain a copy/ photo of the signed delivery notes and receive and consolidate all the delivery clarifications/ queries forward to the Distribution Coordinators. 

Qualifications; she/he should have minimum Diploma in Business Administration or related discipline or Monitoring and Evaluation. 

She/he needs to have previous working experience in a rapid results initiative, such as research, large scale logistics/ distribution projects. 

Proficiency in distribution skills statistic is an added advantage

Individual who can work with minimum supervision are preferred too.
