Finance Officer

Position: As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Finance officer will report to the Executive Director and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. 

The Finance Officer will have primary day – to – day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities of the company. 

This will include direct responsibility for accounting, financial, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, Donor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institution financing. 

Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership in development for the continuous evaluation of short and long term strategic financial objectives.
  • Ensure credibility of the Organization’s financial statements by providing timely and accurate analysis of ADS North Rift finance trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to project future revenues and expenses.
  • Take hands- on lead position in developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive job cost system.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization.
  • Ensure that all statutory and non-statutory deductions are made properly, promptly and remitted to their respective authority as required by law.
  • Evaluates and advise on the impact of long range planning and introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationship with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range project solutions.
  • Provide Executive Management with advice on all matters with financial implications to the Organization.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidating and reporting to the Company.
  • Providing recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Advise management in areas of employee compensation, health care benefits, data processing systems and sustainability plans.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations and rules for financial reporting and compliance to tax reporting.
  • Ensure that the financial statements are audited on timely basis, liaise with external auditors, tax consultants and Government Revenue Authorities.
  • Ensure that the audited accounts are tabled with registrar of companies on timely basis.
  • Monitor ADS North Rift overall liquidity and the cash flow position.
  • Manage the payroll
  • Maintain monthly management accounts and management information to appropriate Managers and budget holders for monitory and management control.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Business administration
  • Specialized Trainings/Professional o Full CPA (K) or ACCA o Be a Member of ICPAK
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounts.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in management and donor funding at senior position.
  • Must meet all requirements of chapter 6 of the constitution: 
  1. Clearance certificate from HELB 
  2. Tax compliance certificate 
  3. Certificate of good conduct 
  4. Credit bureau clearance certificate

  • Ability to deal with a wide range of reports
  • Must have sound knowledge of accounting systems and procedures - Relevant knowledge and experience in preparation of Donor reports. Other skills & Abilities
  • PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) strong working knowledge of spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in IT Financial Management System/Software in QuickBooks
