Executive Officer Job in Nairobi

Seed Trade Association of Kenya (STAK) is a not-for-profit membership association whose major role is to represent and promote the interest and competitiveness of the seed industry in Kenya through advocacy, provision of information and capacity building of its members.


STAK is seeking to recruit a competent, highly organized and experienced professional to serve as 
Executive Officer on three year renewable term appointment to be based in Nairobi. 

The position will involve travelling across the country and some traveling in the region.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Officer shall carry out the following responsibilities among others:
  • Provide good leadership and management of the secretariat to stimulate a vibrant seed sector.
  • Provide members with timely, relevant and accurate information on all aspects of the seed industry.
  • Recruit and retain membership to the association.
  • Develop and maintain a modern and effective communication strategy
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with governments, private sector, and development partners.
  • Develop and maintain linkages with relevant international agencies such as UPOV.
  • Represent the association in National and regional seed forums
  • Maintain good liaison with key government ministries and designated national seed regulatory agency.
  • Develop and maintain relations with seed regulatory agencies in the neighboring countries.
  • Timely preparation and presentation of progress reports to the Board
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must have a Masters degree (M.Sc. or MBA); a Bachelors’ degree in agriculture/horticulture or related field.
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Experience working with diverse organizations
  • Solid skills in information collection, analysis and reporting
  • Good understanding of the operations of seed companies, government agencies and development partners.
