Finlays Vacancy:General Manager, Tea Extracts
 
In order to continue building upon our success we are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee our extracts production operation located on our tea estates in Kericho, Western Kenya

The Job: Reporting to the Managing Director, Finlay Tea Solutions and working with Executive team at Kericho, the job holder will lead the business and team in the pursuit of continued development of world class manufacturing standards in order to produce high quality food grade products in a highly efficient and cost effective manner with an overriding focus on safety and environmental performance in order to meet internal and external customer service levels.

Key Responsibilities
 
The job holder will:
  • Responsibility for the P&L of the Tea Extracts factory
  • Lead, manage and motivate a highly skilled workforce.
  • Embedding a Management culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Drive compliance in food factory standards.
  • Champion health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Work to enhance the skills and capability at all levels of the organisation
  • Ensure excellent industrial relations are maintained.
  • Monitor service levels from other divisions managed services, using SLA’s, KPI’s and other incentive mechanisms to drive performance.
  • Report monthly performance KPI’s including quality, Health/Safety/Environment, costs, production volumes and customer service.
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven (10+years) previous experience at General Manager/Operations Director level in world class food/beverage, consumer/FMCG manufacturing business.
  • Experience of delivering a significant change agenda.
  • A track record of driving compliance to high standards.
  • Proven record of responsibility for the P&L of a factory based processing business.
  • Impressive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Culturally aware; able to understand and manage the motivations of stakeholders.
  • Dynamic and articulate; able to relate to people at all levels of the organisation and bring instant gravitas/credibility to the role.
Finlays Vacancy:Welfare Manager
 
We invite applications for the post of Welfare Manager which has arisen in our Kericho Operations. 

This is a senior management role.
 
The Job: Reporting to the Human Resource Director ,the job holder will provide leadership and support in the development, implementation and coordination of a wide variety of identified welfare programmes, approved initiatives and projects designed to improve staff , family and child welfare within the company.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
The job holder will:
  • Using a hands on approach ,provide leadership and support in the development, implementation and coordination of identified and approved initiatives designed to reduce all forms of violence ,including but not limited to gender based violence, domestic violence and violence towards children.
  • Develop and implement programmes to address and tackle issues that are having a negative impact on employees’ ability to perform their duties, such as poor mental health, drug & alcohol abuse, family crisis, and discrimination.
  • Work with the welfare assistants, village committees and gender committees, to set up and run awareness programmes to educate the community on family and child welfare, child protection and gender equality with the aim of empowering individuals to take responsibility for improving their lives and those of their families.
  • Work with the management to ensure that all welfare, sexual harassment and child protection concerns are dealt with promptly in accordance with set procedures and within agreed timeframes.
  • Ensure that breaches of company procedures or failure to take appropriate action on welfare concerns are brought to the attention of Human Resource Director.
  • Work with management to develop, implement and review policies that ensure zero tolerance approach towards all form of violence, including verbal and/or physical abuse, all arms of harassment, bullying or intimidation.
  • Lead and Coordinate a wide variety of identified and approved initiatives and projects designed to improve child and employees welfare within the company, schools and villages.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that welfare assistants are delivering on their mandate. This includes ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills.
  • Set up workshops for employees, parents & children living and working within the company on child protection, parenting skills, parent child relationships etc.
  • Maintain welfare database.
  • Compile and submit reports as required.
  • With other stakeholders, implement company’s harassment, sexual offences and child abuse policy and other related social policies and ensure concerns are dealt with promptly in accordance with set procedures and within agreed timeframes. This includes reporting, investigation, and liaising with the various government agencies.
  • Ensure Counseling services are provided to children and families in accordance with the company’s policy.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Social work or related discipline from a recognised university.
  • At least five years relevant experience working with children and/or adults in social work/welfare setting. Three of which in a management level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge on the Childrens Act, childrens rights, Sexual Offences Act and other relevant Kenyan laws.
  • Must be computer literate
  • Excellent communication skills ( oral and written)
  • Good organising and planning skills with good investigative skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Must be a team player.
