Our client is a key player in the petroleum industry in Kenya with significant investment in one of the region’s largest service station networks, operating terminals, lubricant blending plant and aviation facilities at major airports that service Kenya and the wider East & Central Africa region. 

The business covers the sale and marketing of a range of quality lubricants, motor and industrial fuels, LP gas, Chemicals and Special products as well as a strong back-court offering that includes a network of fast food outlets, convenience stores, ATM’s and chemists.

Our client seeks to recruit for the role of
 Accounting and Finance Manager, reporting to the General Manager. 

You will be responsible for supporting the business in exceeding its objectives through sound financial management and proactively plan for and manage emerging business needs.

As Accounting and Finance Manager, you will:
  • Develop a sound financial strategy to support the overall company objectives;
  • Implement and monitor systems and processes that ensure reliable and timely financial management reports for decision-making;
  • Steward financial compliance and manage statutory and tax audits in compliance with IFRS & local laws;
  • Provide leadership in management of the company’s working capital;
  • Develop an efficient tax management, monitoring and compliance system;
  • Provide performance reports to management and business lines, including counsel to ensure their alignment to the financial strategies;
  • Establish effective and efficient risk management processes, tools and procedures including their monitoring and appraisals;
  • Monitor and provide leadership team with results, trends, costs and impact of business risks;
  • Liaise with internal controls, risk assessment units and business management to identify, develop, and implement appropriate internal control processes, procedures and guidelines;
  • Monitor key economic indices, assumptions and projections and provide leadership and guidance for the development of annual company plans and budgets; and
  • Lead, coach, mentor and energize the finance team to ensure high levels of productivity.
You will have;
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution;
  • Fully qualified accountant, CPA(K) or ACCA;
  • Member of ICPAK or other recognised accounting body;
  • At least 10 years’ experience in financial management in the commercial sector;
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and reporting environment in the region;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Proven track record of effective team leadership;
  • High ethics and integrity; and
  • Detail oriented.
