Finance Manager Job in Kenya (250K - 300K)

A fast growing outdoor advertising company currently installs and rents out billboards and has operations across Kenya. 

The Company’s strategy is to increase its revenue streams by growing the number of billboards and venture into other product lines. 

The Company is in a high growth phase, and is currently expanding their product range.
 

Job Title: Finance Manager
 
Job Purpose: The FM will be responsible for implementing the finance policies of the company, financial processing and monitoring the budget on a day-to-day basis. 

The FM will be expected to contribute to the development and execution of the company’s growth strategy, advising on the most prudent mechanisms for fiduciary management, ensuring that there are proper financial and accounting controls, and identifying investment considerations that will ensure that the value of the company’s assets is protected.
 
Reports to: The CEO and the Board of Directors
 
Supervises: All the employees in the accounting and finance functions of the company
 
Qualifications
 
Education: CPA/ACCA preferably augmented with a relevant degree and an MBA.
 
Skills:  

The successful candidate must possess the following skills:
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills
  • Strong financial management and profit maximisation skills with sound grounding in the financial considerations of advertising entities
  • Ability to build a financial model
  • Excellent people management, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial compliance and governance requirements especially pertaining to outdoor advertising
  • Impeccable integrity and diligence
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure
Experience: 

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following experience:
  • At least ten (10) years of financial management with P&L and Balance Sheet responsibility in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in dealing with cost management and optimization.
  • An appreciation of commercial negotiations
  • Experience with initiating and leading improvement programmes, strategic plans and overseeing change
  • Experience with project management, procurement, overseeing advisors and contractors
  • An understanding of private equity fund investor issues
  • Strong treasury and cash management background
  • Previous work experience in an outdoor advertising company will be an advantage
Job Responsibilities
 
Leadership:
  • Advising the CEO and BoD on the financial implications of business/project activities.
  • Responsibility for understanding the strategic direction of the Company, providing proactive financial expertise and leadership to the company and direction for both short term and long term financial planning.
  • Leading the design and implementation of the structure of financial resources and all financial operations of the company.
  • Developing a strategic proposal for Asset Management
  • Providing internal leadership and direction to immediate reports of the Finance Division.
  • Assisting in recruiting new officers for the division and develop training models for the department's staff.
  • Responsibility for the Financial Accountability of the business
  • Liaise with tax consultant to ensure compliance with regulations
Finances:
  • Actively managing company cash flow on a daily basis, generate relevant projections and weekly forecasting, and Manage the capital needs and budgeting process
  • Determining utilization, revenue, profitability per billboard face, and develop pacing reports
  • Maintaining internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, project budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Preparing of monthly management accounts and annual statutory financials statements; and communicating the analyses to CEO and Board on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually).
  • Coordinating both interim and annual audits with Company auditors.
  • Design, implement and calculate of staff incentives, commissions, and salaries, and investigate remuneration plans to attract and retain individuals.
  • Managing and monitor all aspects of working capital of the busiess.
  • Managing timely computation, payment and submission of all statutory deductions
  • Overseeing employee and business insurance plans and coverage analysis.
Operations:
  • Participating in the Operational Review meetings and represent the finance division in those meetings.
  • Primary interface on all banking, treasury and board-level presentations.
  • Preparing terms of reference and overseeing the consultancy in the field of the financial advisory firms to be engaged by the Company.
  • Ensuring adherence to accounting standards and legal compliances.
  • Demonstrating IT capability in fully utilizing & integrating the company’s OOH Media Management system
  • Implementing appropriate costing systems for the different lines of business
Policies:
  • Ensuring that existing finance guidelines and related administrative procedures are adhered to, and updated where necessary.
  • Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate IFRS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboratively developing operating policies and procedures, improvement programs and management systems for the attainment of objectives of specific projects and the company.
  • Abiding by, observing and at all times complying with and give effect to the terms and conditions of the Investment Agreements and ensuring that the Company does not in any way violate or fail to comply with its obligations thereunder.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Timely reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually)
  • Compliance with all statutory requirements
  • Cash management and driving efficiency in operations, including cost reduction strategies, and advising on opportunities for greater revenue generation
  • Timely support to other senior management
  • Good investor relations
Terms: KES 250,000 to 300,000 depending on experience and qualifications
 
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the CEO and the Board of Directors.
