Executive Assistant Job in Kenya – NGO

A fast-growing, award-winning organization NGO that is implementing a high-impact income and savings program for ultra-poor women in the drylands of Africa is looking to hire an Executive Assistant to the CEO.

Summary of Roles: The ideal candidate must be creative and enjoy working within a fast paced growing organization that is mission and results-driven. 

The ideal individual should have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong research, written and verbal communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to manage administrative and organizational tasks while maintaining a realistic balance among multiple priorities.
The Executive Assistant must have demonstrated experience in the research, editing and writing of reports.

Key Responsibilities


The Executive Assistant will offer effective assistance in the communications and marketing work of the organization and providing administrative support to the CEO on internal and external communications and meetings including event and travel arrangements.  

Other duties may be assigned as needed, including data entry, data verification and other support tasks.

Essential Attributes

The Executive Assistant must have the necessary skills and experience to work effectively with management, staff, donors and board members to accomplish the strategic goals of the company.  

They also must be able to work under pressure and be able to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Base Location: Nanyuki, Kenya. 

This is a short-term position up to July 2015, with a possibility of extension.

Reports to: CEO.

Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communication or Administration
  • Previous experience in a similar position/NGO environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills; proficiency in English
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team
  • Strong computer and Internet research skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint as well as the ability to trouble-shoot technology challenges
  • Administrative support experience
