About Danish Embassy: The Embassy of Denmark in Nairobi is seeking three program officers in the areas of health, natural resource management and private sector development related to the Danida Kenya Country Program.

Danish International Development Assistance has worked closely with Kenya since 1963. The current Kenya development program is having annual disbursements over 40 billion Kshs. 

The embassy is having a staff of 50 dedicated people handling a very wide range of task including political, commercial and cultural affairs, security cooperation and development cooperation. 

Main priorities for our development cooperation are poverty reduction, democracy and human rights.

Program Officer 1: Health Sector Programme Support
 
This position requires supporting the Health Sector Services fund, Devolved Health, Essential Medicine and Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights through close collaboration with the Government of Kenya at national and county level.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management, administration and monitoring of the programme budget, expenditure, and controls.
  • Develop a strong data collection system, to improve and support the current program activities and donor coordination in the health sector at both National and County levels.
  • Prepare the Terms of Reference for short term national and international technical assistance as required by the implementing agencies.
  • Support future programmes through design, review, appraisal and follow up on recommendations made.
  • Liaise with relevant National and County institutions and authorities as well as other Development Partners in matters related to programme.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor degree in Public Health, Development Studies, International Relations or equivalent is required. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
  • Vast experience and knowledge of the public and private Kenyan health sector.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ progressively responsible experience in programme and projects management with demonstrated experience in working with donor development programmes.
  • Knowledge and experience in programme management and of programming tools advanced monitoring and evaluation tools etc.
  • Knowledge of digital financial management reporting systems, project databases, and MS office.
Program Officer 2: Natural Resource Management
 
This position requires supporting development activities in natural resource management in particular water and sanitation (WASH) in the ASAL areas of Kenya and mainstreaming of gender, green growth and private sector participation within the Natural Resource Management and Green Growth Programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in management, administration & supervision of implementation of the NRM Programme and in particular the European Union - Supporting the Horn of Africa Resilience (EU-SHARE).
  • Monitor the progress of assigned programmes and projects, and collaborate with the Finance department to provide inputs in budget estimates and financial management of the program.
  • Actively dialogue, network and liaise with GOK institution and stakeholders in matters related to sector strategies and implementation.
  • Participate in relevant sector forums within the natural resources management programme and future green growth programme.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in environmental, development studies or business. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in development, programme management and implementation.
  • Knowledge of programming tools such as the Results Based Management, Theory of Change and advanced monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Experience of working with private sector organisations and donor/programme implementers
  • Experience working with Danida, EU and/or Government of Kenya procedures will be an added advantage.
Program Officer 3: Private Sector Development Support
 
This role will involve dealing with the Danida private sector development cooperation in Kenya, with the support to Kenyan and Danish business partnerships (the Danida business instruments) and with advice to Danish companies wishing to trade with or invest in Kenya (Trade Council).
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management, administration and monitoring of the programme budget, expenditure, and controls.
  • Develop a data collection system to support the implementation of the present Danida private sector development support and donor coordination in private sector development.
  • Monitor and analyze economic development reports and economic sector of particular interest for trade and investment between Kenya and Denmark.
  • Prepare TOR for required short term technical assistance as required by programme components.
  • Liaise with the private sector, government institutions and contacts at national and county level relevant for the business team in matters related to programme implementation, business development or other relevant issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor degree in Economics, Business, Development Studies, International Relations or equivalent is required. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ of progressively responsible experience in programme and project management.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management and of programming tools such as the Theory of Change model, advanced monitoring and evaluation tools etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with donors/programme implementers or internationally recognised consultancy firms.
  • Knowledge of digital financial management reporting systems, project databases, and MS office.
