CMS Africa is an autonomous mission agency formed out of the Church Mission Society, (CMS) in 2008.

Its goal is to be a sustainable Africa- wide mission agency that will not only envision, equip and mobilize the church for mission, but also help renew people’s mindsets and transform communities. 

CMS Africa seeks to empower churches and communities through mission tested tools in the following sectors: Business as Mission (BAM), Youth, Women, and Families & Finance.
 
Job Purpose: This is a supervisory position whose purpose is to provide management with accurate and timely information for decision making.
 
Duties:
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare financial management reports
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Monitor and support taxation issues
  • Develop and maintain financial data bases
  • Financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Preparation of bank reconciliation statements
  • Record and maintain the fixed assets register
  • Ensure the payroll is run on time and all statutory deductions are submitted to the relevant bodies within the set deadlines
  • Ensure that all insurance renewals are done on time. This would include but not limited to medical, domestic package, group life, pension etc.
Minimum Criteria:
  • Thorough knowledge of Quick books and Excel spread sheet.
  • Be a CPA (K)
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree (Accounting/Finance option)
  • At least 31/2 years accounting experience
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with strong ability to create the right impression
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team work ability
  • High degree of confidentiality, honesty, integrity
  • A driving license will be an added advantage
