Our client is a Kenyan company created in 2010 specialized in developing environmental and carbon offset projects in rural areas in Kenya. They are currently implementing an ambitious 10 year carbon finance project in its 3rd year of implementation. 

The company wants to identify new social business opportunities to develop a sustainable and profitable company and ensure its future growth.

The company currently has 18 employees and two offices. ( One in Nairobi and the main in Embu).

The Position is based in Embu with occasional travels to Nairobi

Objectives
: To lead and develop new business opportunities in Kenya ensuring that all operations are run with profitability and in an ethical manner in order to fulfil the objectives of its shareholders and stakeholders

Job Duties
  • To dynamically lead and support an ambitious program of sales and distribution
  • To lead the operational and financial management of the project
  • To ensure successful project implementation, supervising of activities in the ground and providing guidance and active support to a team of local field officers and community facilitators
  • To successfully achieve penetration and distribution goals of the Hifadhi project in the 3 districts
  • Be responsible for business development activities to grow the business and find new partners in Kenya
  • To consolidate all operational information to perform efficient reporting to Hifadhi program directors
  • Preparing and executing budgets, keeping tight control on expenditures, ensuring all administrative requirements, invoicing and financial control tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Representing the organization to the public, key stakeholders and business partners.
Education, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in any field related to business, forestry and agricultural management
  • 2 years or more of project management experience and rural extension, familiar with sustainable forestry, environmental or community development projects in rural areas in Kenya
  • Results orientation and excellent managerial and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with carbon finance and sustainable forestry preferred
  • Effective decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Creative problem solver and multitasking abilities
  • Detail oriented with strong financial control abilities
  • Forward leader and an empathic leader with training skills, experienced in leading teams of community facilitators
Languages: Fluent in English and Kiswahili required. French and Embu will be an added advantage
