Position Summary: The Field Finance Assistant will be responsible for following relevant established internal policies and procedures of Adeso & EU donor regulations. 

These include applying Accounting knowledge and techniques to all areas of work, including the management of petty cash, processing salaries, and bank management. 

The Field Finance Assistant will provide support to all field programs and will ensure that work is performed in accordance with Adeso’s processes and procedures, while referring to line managers for guidance as required.

Position Purpose
  1. Provide financial support to all projects at the field level.
  2. Process day to day payment for Garowe office and Maintain Accounting document.
  3. Will ensure compliance with financial policies.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
 
The Accounts assistant position will be a full-time member of the Adeso staff, working with the teams in Garowe office;
  • Ensure proper management of petty cash,
  • Process and make payments as provided in the approved budgets
  • Record transactions in the system including coding of payment vouchers before making payment,
  • Carry out reconciliations of cash and bank balances on regularly basis,
  • Prepare schedule of payments of utilities, statutory deduction and ensure timely payment of the same,
  • Ensure timely preparation of all advances including travel and other advances and provide monthly update of any outstanding advances.
  • Verification of and reconciliation of accounting documents i.e. Cash Relief vouchers
  • Ensure timely liquidation of any outstanding advances
  • Ensuring maintenance of an efficient, proper and transparent financial filing system for the department and the organization in accordance with the organizational guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation for audits (both projects and institutional audits)
  • Assist in preparation of Monthly actual activity report against the cash projection.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA-K, ACCA) or related Bachelor degree
  • At least two year working experience with NGO
  • Experience and knowledge of EU funded programme

  • Excellent in written and spoken English & Somali.
