Clerk of Works Job in Kenya

Due to the continuing and expected works, we are looking for a Clerk of Works
 
Job Purpose: To ensure the university environment and facilities are safe, usable and maintain their aesthetics and to inspect the work of contractors involved in erecting buildings, renovating, landscaping and other works.

Key Responsibilities
  • To confer with architects and contractors as to the preparation and interpretation of plans and specifications;
  • To conduct on-site observation and spot-checks of work in progress including the workmanship and inspect all materials going into the project as well as practices of contractors and/or crews engaged in construction;
  • Ensure contract compliance by the contractor, such as conducting tests specified in contract and installing materials/equipment as specified in the contract, and share deficiencies with the supervisor, architect and contractor as may be appropriate;
  • Provide reports on all on-site matters, including third-party inspections, progress, safety concerns, and causes for delay;
  • To be familiar with legal requirements and checking that the work complies with them;
  • To source for necessary land and/or buildings for acquisition or partnership and follow up on all transactions in the acquisition of properties or partnerships in property use;
  • To ensure that all university property is not vandalized or misused and that maintenance works are done from time to time as necessary.
Qualification, Skill and Experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Architecture or related field from a recognized university;
  • At least 6 months experience in construction project management;
  • Has interest and is willing to learn on the real estate industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements;
  • Excellent negotiation skills ;
  • Have high levels of integrity and honesty;
  • Ability to work independently.
