Vacancy: Project Manager
Project Background: Konza Techno City is
a key flagship project of Kenya Vision 2030 which seeks to develop an ICT
ecosystem in a cluster.
Significant
milestones have been achieved, most recently:
i) Drilling and
equipping of seven boreholes;
ii) Establishment of
Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) and appointment of a Board of
Directors;
iii) Submission of the
Draft KoTDA Bill to the Attorney General to expand the mandate of the
Authority
iv) Approval of design
drawings for the construction of an iconic Sales Pavilion by the Directorate of
Public Works; and
v) Approval of the
Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) by National Environment Management
Authority (NEMA) (February 2014).
Most notably, the
Ministry and KoTDA on 30th June 2014 signed on the Master Delivery Partner 2
(MDP2) to work with KoTDA to develop Phase 1 (2014-2018).
The Konza Technopolis
Development Authority (KOTDA) therefore seeks to recruit a Project Manager to oversee the development of the Konza
Techno City.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief
Executive Officer, the Project Manager will be required to:
- Track
progress of tasks, initiatives, and programs to ensure deadlines are met
as appropriate.
- Review
and present progress reports, budgets, and strategic initiatives to Board
of Directors and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate
deliverables prepared by KOTDA’s consulting team, Master Delivery Partner
2 (MDP2), a consortium led by TetraTech, Inc., a US-based consultancy.
- Proactively
communicate project status, issues and risks to the CEO, identify and
recommend solutions to address the challenges.
- Act as
a liaison with relevant external stakeholders including Government of
Kenya Ministries, multilateral institutions, and private parties as
required.
- Any
other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors and the
Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Eight
(8+) or more years of relevant experience in project management, real
estate development, economic development and related consulting fields on
projects in Africa.
- Critical
analytical skills, leadership traits, and passion for urban development in
Africa.
- Bachelor’s
degree in any of the following fields: Architecture, Civil Engineering,
Building Economics, Quantity Surveyor, Construction Management or its
equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Master’s
degree in any of the following fields: Architecture, Civil Engineering,
building Economics, Quantity Surveyor, Construction management or its
equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Meet
the requirements of leadership and integrity as prescribed in Chapter six
(6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Intermediate
fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong
interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated
experience in leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in
nature and national in scope.
