Summary of Responsibilities:
The grants officer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of IRC Lodwar’s grants.
She/he will assist in new program
development as defined by the Field coordinator and monitor project design and
implementation to ensure adherence to IRC policies, as well as compliance with
internal regulations and donor regulations.
She/he will act as the focal point of
the IRC grants team with regard to donor compliance and communication.
She/he will provide capacity building
to IRC Lodwar and partner staff on reporting and procedure skills.
The successful candidate will report
to the Field Coordinator and will work closely with the grants, programs and
finance teams.
Key Tasks:

- Lead grant opening and grant closing meetings
for all grants and ensure that the resultant actions are completed in a
timely fashion.
- Manage the IRC Lodwar grants file system and
ensure all files are regularly updated and easily accessible for relevant
staff.
- Oversee the drafting of memorandums of
understanding (MoU’s) with partners and sub-grantees.
- In coordination with the IRC Lodwar Finance
and Programs teams, monitor project design, implementation, and spending
to ensure compliance with IRC and Donor regulations.
- In partnership with the Grants, Finance and
Program teams, provide training on grant compliance and regulations for
partners.
- Support program planning and ensure a work
plans, spending plans and procurement plans complement each other
- Develop or modify tools that will increase
efficiency in grants management processes
Program Support and Development (10%)
- Assist relevant sector heads with policy and
regulations interpretation.
- In coordination with the grants, programs and
finance teams, assist in the development and submission of proposals and
budgets in line with IRC policy and Donor guidelines.
- Develop materials and resources to assist in
reporting, verification and compliance.
- Undertake and complete research assignments as
requested.
Reporting/Capacity Building (10%)
- Ensure timely submission of narrative and
financial reports and support in the preparation of narrative reports as
needed.
- Build the capacity of program staff and
partners on report preparation and technical writing skills.
Communications Support (5%)
- Draft, edit and disseminate written internal
communications
- Assist in developing web based content for the
IRC Lodwar Office in conjunction with the communications unit.
- Respond to program queries and other
correspondence as required.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree related to international
development, development studies, economics, social sciences, community
development.
- At least two (2) years experience in
development or emergency programming in a developing country.
- Knowledge of industry standards in grant
management and design as applied to NGO work in the areas of Health, Food
Security & Livelihoods, WASH, GBV and Governance.
- An advanced knowledge of multi-donor
regulations, procedures and requirements preferred
- Ability to function effectively in a
multicultural context.
- Willingness to travel extensively to IRC (K)
locations.
- Advanced computing skills.
