Our client is a well renowned automotive equipment manufacturer who specializes
in distribution of suspension products throughout East Africa and the Middle
East.Job Purpose: The chief Accountant will be in-charge of all accounting duties of both financial and management accounting.
They will be responsible for
preparing financial and performance reports, budgets and reviews, cash flow
management, internal control and tax studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Know critical functions within the department
and mentor / assisting employees within the department.
- Utilize teamwork to develop departmental
synergy.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted
accounting principles and company procedures.
- Review, investigate, and correct error/s/ and
inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with bi-laws, local and
corporate policies, regulations, taxes and laws.
- Review accounts payables and weekly check
runs.
- Determine proper handling of financial
transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.
- Compile and analyze financial information to
prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and documents
business transactions.
- Distribute financial statements and cost
center reports.
- Applies cost accounting methods to achieve
accurate representation of cost center performance.
- Prepares work papers and supporting schedules
for the annual financial review.
- Prepare financial statements and other reports
to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial
position.
- Analyze transactional processes and identify
areas where additional accuracies and efficiencies can be achieved.
- Closely maintain and monitor the fixed assets
system.
- Adhere to internal and external deadlines.
- Ensure branch staffs are accountable for
accuracy and timeliness of inventory controls and cost controls.
- Assist with annual budgets incorporating all
branches
- Coordinate monthly closing process and
reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for all taxes obligations such as
VAT, PAYE, Customs Duty etc.
- Support the Company’s mission, vision, values
and goals in the performance of daily activities.
- Preparation of the monthly statutory accounts
and consolidated financial statements.
- Work closely with both internal and external
auditors during financial and operational audits.
- Maintain system of accounts and keep records
of all company transactions and assets.
- Report, analyze, and ensure integrity of all
financial information.
- Controlling the payroll and salary transfers.
- Follow up on debt collections while monitoring
cash flows.
Education / Skills
- Advanced degree or diploma in Business /
Finance related field.
- Min. 5 years experience in Finance with
preferably 2 years as a senior finance officer
- Min. 3 years experience in leading and
managing Finance Department
- Certified Public Accountant minimum level 4
- Good communication and people management
skills.
- Accurate reporting and forecasting using
various financial information systems
- Experience in audit exercises.
- Knowledgeable on relevant tax requirements and
accounting duties for department staff.
- Experience in financial operations and
legislations
