Introduction

The KCCB – General Secretariat is the National Administrative, facilitative and Coordinative arm through which the KCCB implements and co-ordinates various Pastoral programs at the National level and undertakes all those responsibilities which express the mission of the Catholic Church in Kenya.

It is seeking an outstanding, dynamic and results oriented individuals to fill the following key positions.

Manager, Donor Relations and Resource Mobilization
For its Commission for Education and Religious Education 

Report 

To the National  Executive Secretary

Purpose of the post

Develop and implement resource mobilization strategy to support the realization of Commission strategic plan and growth objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • develop and write highly competitive grant proposals
  • Ensure alignment of research with the KCCB / Commission strategy
  • Establish quality standards for proposals and concept notes and ensure achievement (through monitoring, mentoring and training)
  • Ensure communication and knowledge management are built into every project proposal
  • Prepare key donor documents in coordination with commission staff
  • Develop and maintain database of donors, project concept notes and project proposals
  • Assess on a bi-annual basis Commission performance on project development and approval
  • Maintain project tracking system and ensure all donor funding requirements are met
  • Periodically carry-out donor interest and focus surveys in order to identify trends in donor funding priorities.

  • Donor relations and fundraising profession
  • Must have outstanding organizational, analytical and priority setting skills with. Strong negotiating skills. Excellent communicator, able to listen to and engage with multilateral, bilateral, corporate and foundation donors.
Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in an associated field, such as Social Science, Journalism and International Development. Fundraising, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Superior knowledge of best practices in international donor relations and fundraising
  • At least 5 five years’ experience in resource mobilization/fund raising and proposal development for an international research or development organization
  • Experience with bilateral, multilateral funding agencies, and familiarity with private foundations that fund nonprofit organizations
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies

  • A good knowledge of social teachings of the Church, and Ethical principles

Internal Auditor

Purpose Of The Post

To evaluates all KCCB internal controls, processes, policies and mechanisms to
ensure that they are adequate, effective and in compliance with regulatory principles, industry standards and corporate guidelines.

The holder of this position is expected to effectively manage the Kenya Conference Of Catholic Bishop’s Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance function to all areas of operations, in a manner that will accomplish the expected objectives.

Duties  
  • Determine the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of internal accounting and operating controls, governance and risk management processes within the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops.
  • Review the reliability and integrity of financial information and the means used to identify, measure, classify and report such information
  • Review the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verify the existence of such assets
  • Assist in the implementation of recommendations from external audit and Keeps the Finance Commission and General Secretary informed of the results of the audit and risk associated with Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops’ activities and services.
  • Evaluate any plans or actions taken to correct reported conditions for satisfactory disposition of audit findings
  • Establish quarterly audit plan and audit programs.
  • Follow-up on audit findings for the organization and Institutions for implementation of recommendations and make sure that adequate corrective action is taken and that it is effective.
  • Takes responsibility for coordinating external audit processes to completion.
  • Advises Senior Management on new developments that affect control and provides solution in a proactive manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, Participate in the systems to determine whether a. Adequate controls are incorporated in the systems; b. Thorough system testing is performed at appropriate stages; c. System documentation is complete and accurate
Qualifications
  • MBA degree and  Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/Finance or a business related degree;
  • Must be a Chartered Internal Auditor
  • CPA Finalist, ACCA or equivalent. CIA, CISA qualification and/or membership to a professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative, honesty, dynamic strategic thinking and Collaborative approach to governance.
  • At least three years’ experience in auditing in a busy organization.  
  • A person of attested integrity.
  • Computer literacy in Pastel Software, Word, Excel, Power Point.
