The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership-based organization registered in Kenya with country offices in Uganda and Tanzania. 

Our members are key stakeholders and players in the grain value chain including cereal growers, millers and processors drawn from within and outside the East Africa States. 

Our core mandate is to develop and promote orderly structured marketing systems and provide market information for grains so as to reduce transaction costs and eliminate barriers’ to regional trade


Vacancy: Driver / Motorcycle Rider

Reporting to the Human Resources & Administration Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Driving vehicle/motorcycle for all official duties while ensuring timeliness and safety.
  • Delivery and pick up of mail and official documents.
  • Postage and collection of mail to and from post office.
  • Ensuring the vehicle/motorcycle assigned is well services and maintained as required.
  • Keeping up to date and accurate records in the vehicle/motorcycle.
  • Reporting any accidents/incidents involving vehicle/motorcycle in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring maintenance of the vehicle/motorcycle cleanliness.
  • Ensuring that the vehicle/motorcycle licenses are valid and properly displayed.
  • Carrying at all times, a valid driver’s license and for the class of vehicle being driven.
  • Ensuring that any journey(s) undertaken by the vehicle/motorcycle are logged, authorized and official.
  • Keeping track of fuel consumption and vehicle/motorbike services.
  • Completing and updating the log book of the vehicle/motorcycle on a daily basis for proper recording of mileage.
  • Ensuring safe keeping of vehicle/motorcycle accessories.
  • Providing a monthly vehicle/motorcycle usage report.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • Clean and Valid driver’s license class BCEFG.
  • 3 years driving/riding experience.
  • Possess a valid certificate of good conduct.
  • Possess a first aid certificate.
  • Solid experience in defensive driving.
  • Well trained in traffic safety and highway codes.
  • Well conversant with Nairobi streets and its environs.
  • Ability to communicate fluently, written and spoken, both English and Swahili.
  • Good interpersonal skills, flexible and a team player.
  • Honest, high integrity, confidentiality and ability to work under minimal supervision.

Vacancy: Graduate Interns - Administration

Reporting to the Country Program Managers in Uganda and Tanzania, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following amongst others:


  • Keeping the reception area clean and tidy at all times
  • Delivering excellent customer service.
  • Dealing with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner, in person, on the telephone or via e-mail.
  • Receiving incoming calls and making outgoing calls.
  • Receiving incoming mail and dispatching outgoing mail.
  • Maintaining a mailing list/directory for regular circulars and communication
  • Maintaining and updating the suppliers and service provider’s database.
  • Receiving visitors and directing visitors to relevant offices after clearance.
  • Maintaining an updated filing system.
  • Providing support in secretarial duties e.g. typing.
  • Providing support in the procurement of services.
  • Providing support in organization activities e.g. business fair, summit, conferences, field events.
  • Organizing travel logistics for staff e.g. booking tickets and hotel accommodation
  • Reporting any maintenance issues immediately including all furniture, fittings and equipment in the office.

Vacancy: Internal Auditor

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Planning the Audit Engagement
  • Managing the Audit process in the region.
  • Audit reporting and follow up on recommendations and remedial actions.
  • Reviewing operations against business and strategic.
  • Providing assurance on compliance with EAGC’s operating policies.
  • Developing an internal audit and audit risk assessment methodology and conforming to the standards, the requirements of the Internal Audit Charter and any other applicable legislation or applicable government policy.
  • Administering and monitoring quality assurance and process improvement activities including formal quality assessment processes.
  • Providing advice on the design, implementation and delivery of the risk management program.
  • Provision of advisory services to support EAGC in improving risk management, control and governance processes.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting and is computer literate.
  • Minimum 5 years of auditing experience in Internal Auditing, with extensive knowledge & experience in Internal Auditing Standards and Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Professional accounting/auditing qualification(s) such as CPA, CIA, ACCA, CISA.
  • Working experience in a regional environment is desirable.
  • Good analytical and report writing skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity.
  • Capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously, be flexible and be willing to assume a range of unanticipated assignments.

Program Officer – Membership & Communication 
 
The successful candidate should be highly professional, self motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills. 

Reporting to the Regional Manager – Marketing Information Systems and Communication, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Implement the Tanzania membership development plan.
  • Manage member communications including responding to regional EAGC member queries in Tanzania.
  • Maintain accurate EAGC Tanzania membership records and database.
  • Follow up on all EAGC Tanzania membership subscription fees
  • Identify areas of research and conduct studies on key issues affecting the grain sector.
  • Collate and develop articles for the grain newsletter.
  • Coordinate EAGC Tanzania MIS products and services including RATIN.
  • Collect information including market prices, volumes, direction of flow and local exchanges rates, source and destination of specified commodities.
  • Coordinate the EAGC events especially member networking forums.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
  • A degree in relevant discipline.
  • Additional qualifications in Communication and public relations will be an added advantage.
