Housekeeping Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision
of all cleaning and house-keeping staff and ensuring all buildings are
clean, sanitary comfortable and orderly
- Ensuring
the cleaning of grounds and inside buildings
- Assign
duties to other staff and give instructions regarding work methods and
routines.
- In
liaison with the caretaker, request for repair services and wait for
repair workers to arrive.
- Maintaining
of budgets and making sure all items required are ordered promptly
- Oversee
the use of all items and have a report on the same
- Overseeing
the cleaning of rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors,
elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas so that health
standards are met.
- Overseeing
the cleaning of rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies,
using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty
wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and
waste to disposal areas.
- Ensuring
all areas are swept, scrubbed, waxed, and/or polished, using brooms, mops,
and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Ensuring
all furniture and equipment is dusted and polished, i.e silver accessories
and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Ensuring
the keeping of storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Ensuring
the disinfection of equipment and supplies, using germicides or
steam-operated sterilizers is done on time and regularly.
- Any
other duties as directed by the Manager
- Ensuring
cleanliness in all buildings and environs
- Ensuring
Reports in a timely and prompt manner
Skills and Qualifications
- At
least 5 years experience as housekeeping supervisor in a reputable
organization
- Diploma
in Housekeeping/ Hospitality
- Fire
Fighting & First aid skills is desirable
- Must be
fluent in English & Swahili language including the meaning and
spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Organization
and supervision skills are a must.
- Knowledge
of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government
regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political
process
- Knowledge
of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word
processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and
terminology
- Must be
attentive to details
- Ability
to maintain confidential information
