Counselling Psychologist Job in Nairobi Kenya

Women’s Rights Awareness Programme (WRAP) is a non – governmental Organization based in Nairobi and whose core objective is to provide shelter and other related supportive services for abused and violated Women and Children. 

WRAP is seeking to recruit a Counselling Psychologist
 
The ideal candidate should have the following qualities and qualifications:
 

Responsibilities: include and are not limited to:
  • Provide counseling services and other short term therapeutic services to WRAP clients who comprise mainly of abused and violated women and children.
  • Provide support to social workers in the tracking of individual cases, updating status and maintaining client database etc
  • Design psychosocial interventions within the community focusing on the needs of at-risk women and children.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and facilitate internal and external capacity building activities to beneficiaries
  • Undertake home and school visits when the need arises, to find out the home situation and provide counseling services to parents, relatives with a view to finding lasting solutions.
  • Write counseling reports for each client seen and also prepare monthly and quarterly reports for work done.
  • Work with partner organizations in the provision of and referral for services and attend stakeholder meetings on behalf of WRAP
  • Undertake any other tasks that maybe assigned from time to time by management.
Qualifications:
 
Education:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology or its equivalent from a recognized university
Experience:   
  • At least 3 years previous work experience in Counseling preferably in an NGO setting
  • Experience working with Women and Children will be an added advantage
Skills and Competencies:
  • High level of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.
  • Mature (30-35yrs) with a passion for helping women and children in crisis.
  • Experience in capacity building including facilitation of community-based training and awareness raising;
  • Good knowledge of child rights and prevention and response to SGBV issues;
  • Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills
  • Computer literacy is mandatory; knowledge of MS office required;
  • Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision in a diverse cultural working environment
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili.
  • Willing to work long hours
