Group Chief Financial Officer

 
Reporting to the Group Chief Executive Officer, this role contributes to the broad financial strategy across the business, maintaining a long-term focus on the future financial direction of the business and accountable for strategy execution, business planning, reporting and related aspects of the Kenya Operations.

The Key roles for this position are: -
  • Key strategic business partner to the Group Chief Executive Officer and the Old Mutual Africa in driving financial and business strategy within Kenya Operations
  • Develop long term focus on future financial direction of the business and guide the management to its achievement.
  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts, and oversee their implementation.
  • Develop and manage Finance, Procurement and Actuarial teams.
  • Responsible for actuarial valuation of the business.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the business and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Monitors financial processes and performance for all the Kenya Operations.
  • Accountable for preparation of financial reports and presentation to the various stakeholders.
  • Drives commercial aspects of business through financial insights, advice, models and related inputs.
  • Plays a lead role in mergers and acquisitions projects . . .
  • Safeguards best financial operating practice and IAS compliance within the unit.
  • Responsible for audit liaison as well as tax, legislative & statutory requirements.
  • Looks for opportunities to minimise tax liabilities for the organisation.
  • Represents the management in various stakeholder forums and projects.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field. Master’s degree qualification in finance or related areas will be a definite advantage.
  • CPA (K) or equivalent qualification a must. Must be a current member of a reputable accounting professional body.
  • Over 10 years’ experience in a senior position within the financial services industry preferably in a multinational within banking, insurance, investment management and stock brokerage environments.
  • Strong business acumen with solid grasp of the financial sector.
  • Solid experience in mergers and acquisitions a definite advantage.
  • Well exposed to board reporting and able to present financials to varying audience.
  • Proven leadership capability a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • High levels of maturity, energy, drive, creativity and innovation
  • Organized, numerate, analytical and fully conversant with various financial information systems and legislation.
  • Demonstrate good communication and people management skills with high degree of integrity.
