Position: PEPFAR Site Accountant
Trans Mara West
(Kilgoris) Sub-County Hospital is a public hospital situated in Narok
County.
The
successful candidate will be responsible for all accounting and finance issues
relating to PEPFAR funds received.
Key
Responsibilities
- To
provide assistance in maintenance of all field office financial records.
- Maintain
up-to-date, accurate and complete records for all financial transactions.
- Submit
periodic reports and monthly financial documentation to HQ and maintain
local file and scanned copies in an orderly way.
- Maintain
and provide to HQ office timely cash flow and budgets of the field office.
- Process
payment vouchers and cheques on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintain
petty cash on an imprest basis and expense posting of the petty cash.
- Maintain
staff advances account and follow up for timely surrender.
- Maintain
and process field office payroll and remit all statutory deductions
- Accurately
and promptly capture financial data into Quickbooks accounting package.
- Support
Program Manager in the regular monitoring of programme expenditures
through review of up to date Budget Versus Actuals (BVAs) reports and
appropriately advise on arising variances
- Maintain
and update a manual of the organization’s accounting policies and
procedures.
- Ensure
organization’s adherence to policies and procedures in preparation for
Financial reviews
- Follow
up on audit issues and ensure full implementation of all audit
recommendations
- Reconcile
all supplies statements to site’s records and update the HQ officer on any
discrepancies.
- Perform
program financial information analysis and advice management on
appropriate action
- Perform
any additional tasks relating the accounting/finance as may be duly
assigned
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Degree
- B.Com or other business/accounting related field and/or CPA Section 6
- Proficiency
in working with accounting packages and MS Office suite required;
- Working
knowledge of QuickBooks accounting is an added advantage.
- Fluency
in English language.
- Mature,
honest, diplomatic and with a positive attitude.
- Ability
to work both independently and as part of a team
- Minimum
3 years’ experience in an accounting/finance role
