Accountant Job in Kenya

Job Title: Accountant

Reports To: Group Finance Manager and SBU Head

Classification / Grade: Senior Officer    

Purpose of the job:Ensures that accounting policies, controls and guidelines comply with procedures of the parent company-and are adequate and effective.

To manage an effective control system that provides appropriate solutions to internal problems. 

Ensures that data comply with general accepted accounting principles and are fair and complete.
Functions / Responsibilities / Experience:
  • Endeavour and thoroughly understand FEP operations
  • Verification and authentication of all transactions and preparation of appropriate approval documentation
  • To prepare various  bank reconciliations
  • Keeping records of all payments made
  • Custodian of fixed assets
  • Maintain a proper filing for all business transaction records
  • Ensure that financial related data is accurately keyed into FEP accounting system in use
  • Prepare annual budgets and revise when necessary
  • To be aware of budgetary  limitations on various expenses, and to make it known immediately it is exceeded,
  • To manage account working capital for healthy cash flow management
  • Making sure that clients’ and suppliers accounts are accurately updated and statements issued
  • Maintaining a disciplined  general ledger,
  • Maintaining  a strict  financial reporting time table, for monthly, quarterly, and or, as need be,
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and  year end close,
  • Reconciliation of all ledgers
  • Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
  • At least 3 years’ experience in related accounting environment
  • CPA K, Bachelors in accounting and finance is an added advantage.
  • Must be conversant with Quick books and modern Financial Information systems
  • MS office proficiency and excellent MS Excel skills

  • Branch Accountants.
  • Accounts Assistants
