Background:
Amani Facility for Non-state Actors and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
Support for Peacebuilding, Reconciliation, Cohesion, Community Security and
Devolution processes.
The
civil society, interfaith organizations and private sector have been a vanguard
of Kenya democratization, development and peacebuilding and community security
processes.
As
complementary actors in driving forward and realizing the national goals and
aspirations, the CSOs and private sector remain a great partner in the
consolidation of national healing and reconciliation, peacebuilding and
cohesion strengthening, community security as well as in engendering peaceful
devolution.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s
Degree in relevant academic field such as strategic security studies,
conflict analysis and resolution, coexistence, peace studies, political
science, international relations, social sciences or other relevant fields
of study;
- Minimum
of 5 years relevant work experience at national/international levels in
the field of peacebuilding and conflict prevention which should include
programme management; community sector.
- Experience
with UN agencies an advantage.
- Experience
with UN/International organizations an advantage.
- Familiarity
with UNDP/UN and/or Government management and financial procedures.

Background: The UNDP Kenya and the
Government of Kenya are implementing a new four-year prgramme, “Deepening
Foundations for Peacebuilding and Community Security in Kenya 2014-2018” that
aims at developing institutional capacities for policy formulation and
implementation; deepening structures for peacebuilding, cohesion and community
security; and reducing community security threats as well as improving response
to conflicts, risks and disasters; and as well mainstreaming peacebuilding,
reconciliation and community security in national and county development
agendas.
This programme is expected to effectively deliver results for the UNDP’s Country Programme Document (CPD- 2014-2017) and UN development assistance through the outcomes envisaged in the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF- 2014 to 2018) and county development agendas.
Education and Experience:
- Masters Degree in relevant academic field such
as international relations, strategic security, sociology, conflict
management, peacebuilding, political science, security studies, social
sciences or other relevant fields of study
- Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible
working experience in the area of project management/coordination within
the field of armed violence reduction, security sector and community
sector.
- Experience with UN agencies an advantage.
- Experience with UN/International organizations
an advantage.
- Familiarity with UNDP/UN and/or Government
management and financial procedures.
