A new Savings & Co-operative
Society (Sacco) and has specifically been registered to drive one of the most
ambitious investment vehicles in Kenya. Members have steadily grown to 800 with
the anticipated membership of 1,000 within the 1st year.
Main Purpose of Job Role: Reporting
to the Sacco Board, he/she will be responsible for effective coordination and
management of the Sacco secretariat, ensuring member contributions
received through different transactions are assigned to their accounts
timely and accurately, effective accountability systems are implemented,
members’ issues and queries are handled timely and effective direction and
leadership for the Sacco employees is in place.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the affairs of the society in a
competent and professional manner.
- Cause to be kept proper books of records and
registers.
- Provide effective leadership to the Society’s
employees
- Handling member’s queries and issues, timely
and effectively
- Prepare and analyze on a quarterly basis the
society’s business plan and budget.
- Represent the society in business transactions
and any other transactions authorized by the Board
- Provide information required by the board of
directors, timely.
- Organize Board meeting s. record minutes and
follow up on agreed action plans.
- Ensure that the account records are maintained
in accordance with internationally accepted accounting principles.
- Other duties assigned by the Executive board
The most suitable candidate should
demonstrate a leadership style that is firm and goal oriented, and yet motivates,
trains, and engages others in an enthusiastic manner.
To be considered for this position, the candidates need to meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field
and CPA 2, Qualifications in SACCOS’s operations,
- First degree in cooperative management,
Business Management, Microfinance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship or a
diploma in relevant field would be an added advantage.
Experience
- Seven years experience out of which 3 years
are in a senior leadership role in a medium Sacco of not less 500 members
- Excellent organizational, planning and
analytical skills
- Honesty, confidentiality and integrity
- Exceptional problem solving abilities,
resourceful in providing services to clients.
