Administrative Positions

(1) Deputy University Librarian

Person profile
  • Should hold a Masters Degree or equivalent in Library and information Science from a recognized institution.
  • Should have at least 5 years experience in an academic Library, 2 years of which should have served as a Senior Assistant Librarian.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Library management system.
  • Should be a member of a recognized relevant professional body (i.e. KLA,IFLA)
  • Should have good managerial and administrative skills.

Job profile

  • Deputizing the University Librarian and acts in the absence of the same.
  • Assist the Librarian in planning, budgeting and coordination of Library services.
  • Assist the University Librarian in the formulation of Library policies.
  • Marketing of Library services through publication of bulletin, newsletters, manuals and guides.
  • Prepare annual Library manuals.
  • Guiding the selection and acquisition of informal materials for teaching and research.
  • Organizing workshops and seminars as deemed necessary.
  • Develop user education & student orientation programs.

(2) Senior Library Assistant (Cataloguer)

Person profile
  • Should hold a Bachelors/Masters Degree in Library and information Science from a recognized institution.
  • Should have at least 3 years experience in an academic Library, 2 years of which should have served in cataloguing.
  • Must be conversant with use of library of congress classification system.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Library management system/soft ware.
  • Must have knowledge of current procedures in organizing information materials.
  • Should be a member of a recognized relevant professional body (i.e. KLA)

Job profile
  • Facilitate easy access and retrieval of information resources.
  • Liaising with other sections in the Library and faculty in collection development.
  • Training Library users on the use of the online access catalogue and e resources.
  • Maintenance of the library database/bibliographic control.
  • Develop cataloguing policies and operations.
  • Develop authority file for classification and cataloguing.

(3) Systems Librarian

Person profile
  • Should hold a Masters Degree or equivalent in Library studies/ information Science and at least diploma in Computer from a recognized institution.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer Science and at least a diploma in Library and information studies.
  • Should have at least 5 years experience in an academic Library, 2 years of which should have served as a Senior Assistant Librarian.
  • Must have at least three (3) years working experience as a systems Librarian or Systems Administrator in a large organization.

Job profile
  • Manages and monitors the University ICT section.
  • Monitors and advises on Library and Information Communication Technology.
  • Manages the library’s local area network and maintains links with the wide area network.
  • Maintains the library computer software and hardware.
  • Training staff on knowledge and skills on any incoming new technology in the library field.
  • Formulation of policies and guidelines on the use of information technology (IT) in the Library, in conjunction with the relevant departments.
  • Maintaining the Library website and database.
  • Analyze user needs, formulates and implement solutions.
  • Provide routine troubleshooting of the hardware and software.

(4) Marketing and Communication Manager

Person profile
  • Must hold a Bachelors degree in Marketing or Media Studies and postgraduate Diploma in Public relations or Mass Communication.
  • Candidates with a Masters Degree in Marketing will have an added advantage.
  • Should have at least 5 years of work experience with clear demonstrated results.
  • Should be in possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Should be conversant with relevant aspects of Information Communication & Technology.

Job profile

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Market University academic programmes.
  • Develop marketing and public relations policies.
  • Handling queries and concerns from various publics.
  • Develop marketing tools and materials.
  • Ensure that the University has a positive image in the eyes of the public.
  • Publicizing important events taking place at the University.
  • Oversee corporate social responsibility activities.
  • Manage and coordinate special events.
  • Corporate hospitality (receiving University visitors and guests)
  • Coordinate linkages with industry, institutions and other corporate bodies
  • Market the University as a destination for conferences and workshops.
  • Develop graduation supplement.
  • Develop and circulate in-house news letters.

(5) System Administrator (Nakuru Town Campus)

The applicant should meet the following requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Should have experience of two years in System Administration.
  • Should have ability to work with various operating systems and computer hardware.
  • Should have ability to troubleshoot and solve software and hardware issues.
  • Should have ability to train users on the use of ICT resources available within the computer Labs.

Job Profile:
  • Provide reliable, secure and readily available systems and network services to the users.
  • Implement and monitor system controls to ensure information integrity.
  • Define and ensure integrity of the backups and restore process in accordance with the disaster recovery policy.
  • Configure and monitor the performance of specific applications to ensure they operate to agreed performance level.
  • Maintain system availability to meet client (SLA) and contracts.
  • Test and implement technical system upgrades, patches and new installations.
  • Recommend test and implement tools to enhance system performance integrity and administration.
  • Manage the various network and system user accounts.
  • Ensure compliance by users with the ICT Resources utilization policy of the university.
  • General user support.

(6) Sports & Recreation Officer

Person profile
  • Must hold a Masters degree or equivalent in physical education/leisure and recreational management or its equivalent from recognized University.
  • Should have at least 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Should be in possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Should have ability to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills in dealing with students.
  • Should have ability in sports and capability to enjoy indoor/outdoor activities.
  • Should be conversant with computer knowledge and skills.

Job profile

Reporting to Dean of Students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Organize and plan for sporting & recreational activities on the semesterly and yearly basis.
  • Deliver recreational services by initiating, organizing and co-coordinating activities such as sporting matches, cultural services etc.
  • Prepare and/ or administer financial estimates and resource allocation.
  • Perform teaching duties in related areas.
  • Coordinate and arrange meetings and venues.
  • Develop and administer sports and recreational policies.

(7) Guest House Receptionist

The applicant should meet the following requirements:
  • Must have a certificate in Hotel Front Office/receptionist techniques preferably from Kenya Utalii College.
  • Should have superior presentation attributes in terms of speech, language, grooming and character.
  • Should show merit and experience of not less than three years in similar or equitable hospitality Institutions.
  • Applicants with Diploma in other relevant fields such as public relations, marketing or foreign languages will have added advantage.

Job Profile
  • To receive and usher in hotel visitors.
  • Handle payments through cash, Cheques and credit cards
  • To assist in dealing with customer complaints in an effective and courteous manner, providing or seeking solutions as quickly as possible.
  • To be responsible for accurate and efficient guest accounts and guest billing processes.
  • To assist in keeping the hotel reception area clean and tidy at all times.
  • To undertake general office duties, including correspondence, emails, filing and switchboard, to ensure the smooth running of the reception area.
  • To administer all routes of reservations (e.g. online, phone) to ensure that room bookings are made and recorded accurately.
  • To ensure that all reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently.
  • To provide accurate information to guests.
  • To ensure effective interdepartmental communication on issues related guest complaints, guest request and maintenance.
  • Process guests’ check ins and outs.
  • To undertake any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the post as and when required.


Teaching Positions

We want to strengthen our staffing position within our schools. In particular we are looking for Lecturers, Senior Lecturers and Associate Professors in the following area:

1) Associate Professor

For appointment into this position, applicants should be holders of PhD or equivalent academic degree with;

a) At least eight (8) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which should be at Senior Lecturer level and at least five (5) Publications in refereed journals, or one book plus two (2) articles in the relevant area since becoming senior lecturer.

b) Fifteen (15) years of industrial/research experience five (5) of which, should be at senior managerial level in the recent years, plus at least five (5) publications in refereed journals.

2) Senior Lecturer

For appointment into this position, applicants will be required to have a PhD degree or its academic equivalent in the relevant field with at least three (3) years of teaching experience in the position of a lecturer at University level and continued research as evidenced by at least three (3) publications in refereed journals.

3) Lecturer

For appointment into this position, applicants should:
  • Hold a PhD Degree or its academic equivalent in the relevant field
  • Hold a Masters Degree in the relevant field with at least three (3) years of University as an Assistant Lecturer and continued research as evidenced by at least two (2) publications in refereed journals(s) in the relevant area.

Remuneration and Terms of Employment: Appointments to the above positions will be on permanent and pensionable (Guest House Receptionist with be on three year contract renewable on mutual agreement) following a satisfactory probation period of six (6) months.

A competitive compensation package will be offered to successful candidates.

In addition to teaching and academic management, successful candidates for the teaching positions would be expected to drive research, consultancy and outreach.

They are also expected to provide inspired and innovatory subject leadership and mentorship to students.
