Head of Finance Job in Kenya

A leading Kenyan Financial Institution is seeking to recruit highly competent and focused individuals for the following position:

Head of Finance

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, his/her key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To lead the Finance team members to deliver all planned and agreed department and individual performance targets to ensure that the various sections are efficient and value adding to the Organization.
  • To regulate, supervise and implement a timely, full and accurate set of accounting books of the Organization reflecting all its activities in a manner commensurate with the relevant legislation and regulation and internal guidelines set from time to time by the Board of Directors.
  • To prepare timely financial statements and reports as required by all pertinent laws and regulations and deemed necessary and demanded from time to time by the Board of Directors.
  • To coordinate effective treasury management to ensure effective cash flow and cash flow analysis.
  • To prepare, control and monitor the Organization’s revenue, capital and expenditure budget to facilitate translation into action of the strategic and operation plans of the Organization.
  • To create and maintain strong financial discipline by planning, controlling and reporting on the organization’s financial performance to the Board of directors and the senior management team on a monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly basis.
  • To coordinate the implementation of credit policy.
  • To identify delinquent accounts, provisions and write-offs.
  • To evaluate credit performance and make appropriate recommendations to Credit Committee.
  • Preparation and presentation of credit matters to the Board.
  • To ensure that lines of credit facilities are properly managed.
  • To ensure compliance with financial procedures and policies of the Organization
  • To implement sound corporate governance principles
  • Liaise with External Auditors and REGULATORY BODY to ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with existing regulatory instruments and accounting standards.
  • Monitoring Fixed Assets Register, provision accounts, investment portfolio.
  • To alert the Board of Directors and to warn it regarding any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence, lacunas and problems whether actual or potential concerning the financial systems, the financial operations, the financing plans, the accounting, the audits, the budgets and any other matter of a financial nature or which could or does have a financial implication.
  • To monitor compliance with the statutory reports and returns
  • To liaise with the ICT department in the acquisition of the necessary software for the finance function.
  • To maintain a good working relationship with banks, financial institutions and capital markets with the aim of securing the funds necessary for the operations of the Organization, the attainment of its development plans and its investments.
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent internal and external customer service by all finance team members
  • To ensure development of all team members through performance feedback, recommending training where appropriate and coach and mentor individuals for growth.
  • To perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
  • A minimum a Degree in Accounting, or related field with a professional accounting qualification CPA(K), ACCA, ACA etc.
  • Previous relevant work experience required
  • At least 5 years working experience at managerial level; of which at least two must be at the level of Finance Manager or its equivalent
