The Kenya
National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS or the Bureau) is a corporate body
established under the Statistics Act (2006).
It is the
principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation,
analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and
its custody.
The Kenya
National Bureau of Statistics invites applications from suitably qualified and
experienced individuals with excellent credentials to fill the following
position:-
Job Title: Payroll
Accountant
KNBS: Level 5

No. of Posts: 1
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Accountant,
the Officer will be expected to carry out the accounting for payroll and
personnel related payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing staff payments – allowances and other entitlements;
- Ensuring accuracy of net salaries after taking into account all deductions and exemptions;
- Ensuring that taxation is correctly calculated and remitted to KRA;
- Ensuring timely remittances of statutory deductions and filing returns – PAYE, NSSF, HELB etc;
- Verifying statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net pay and ensuring they are paid;
- Verifying computerized payroll related accounts- By products;
- Reconciling of accounts and ensuring accuracy of payroll accounts;
- Maintenance of records relating to monthly payroll details;
- Preparation of personnel emoluments budget liaison with HR;
- Being the key link person between Human Resource Division and Finance Division on payroll matters;
- Any other assignments given by the Chief Accountant.
Minimum Requirement
- Have a first degree in Commerce or related field from a recognized University;
- Be a holder of CPA III or its equivalent;
- Diploma in Human Resource Management or its equivalent will be an added advantage;
- Be familiar with workings of a payroll system;
- Be familiar with Government Financial systems;
- Posses at least 3 years of payroll accounting experience;
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Programmes (ERP) will be an added advantage;
- Have a high level of integrity
