The rehabilitation project in Dadaab aims to provide and secure tangible and measurable improvement of independency in activities of daily living and quality of life of refugees living with physical impairment or disability.

Vacancy: Rehabilitation Officer – Technical Aids

Responsible to: - Rehabilitation Technical Team Leader

Location: Dadaab – Non family duty station

Closing date: - 3rd June, 2014

The Position: Responsible for daily management of the refugee technical aids technicians and to reinforce/build the capacity of the rehabilitation workers, family members and persons with disability.

The Rehabilitation Officer empowers rehabilitation refugees workers assigned to the technical aids workshop, center based, day care and outreach functional rehabilitation services, to be creative in designing, modeling, adjusting, fabricating/producing, repairing and issuing of assistive devices appropriately to person with disabilities.

S/he will be responsible for

1. Capacity building
  • Developing training material and providing practical training aiming to empower and build the capacities of Outreach Rehabilitation Workers in technical follow up of assistive devices in the field.
  • Training and giving guidance to produce activity of daily living devices, learning aids and stimulation toys to the rehabilitation technical worker and the day care worker

2. Ensuring standard quality of services
  • Under the coordination of the Rehabilitation Team Leader, contribute to the development and implementation of client management tools and procedures
  • Ensuring that the rehabilitation workers and technical aids technicians develop good communication and collaboration between functional rehabilitation unit, technical aids workshop and community aiming to fabricate, fit, deliver and follow up quality assistive devices.

3. Capitalization and documentation
  • Under the coordination of the Rehabilitation Technical Team Leader, participate to the improvement, maintenance and use of the data collection system.
  • Compile and analyze lessons learned during the project and contribute to the development of capitalization document on delivery appropriate assistive devices to people with disability living in refugee context.

Required Profile

Education
  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Orthopaedic technology (P&O) or any other rehabilitation trainings (PT,OT) with additional training on Wheelchair technology and/or wheelchair Service Training Package – Intermediate Level (WSTP-I) and postural management

Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years practical experience in related discipline, particularly in development or humanitarian context
  • Knowledge of disability and community-based rehabilitation an added advantage
  • Fabrication of assistive devices

Position: Field Logistics and Administration Assistant

Responsible to: Field Logistician - Dadaab

Location: Dadaab

Closing date: 6th June, 2014

The Position: Under the responsibility of the Field Logistician and functional links with the Field Administrator, the Field Logistics and Administration Assistant will assist in the smooth running of the logistics activities , administration activities, management of accounts and cash flow in compliance with Handicap International's internal regulations.

He/she will be responsible for :-

Finance
1. Guaranteeing that the accounts are kept in good order by
  • Temporarily representing the Field Administrator when he/she is away on business or on leave.
  • Assisting the Field Administrator in period-end closing procedures.

2. Managing the cash flow by
  • Disbursing payments on behalf of HI in field station level.
  • Making sure that the cash box has enough cash so as to ensure continuous support to project activities

Human Resource

3. Carrying out general administrative duties
  • Monitoring deductions of annual leave and other absences.
  • Drawing up all temporary and casual employment contracts for validation

Logistics

4. Continuous updating of Purchase Service Request (PSR) Monitoring Chart
  • Updating the purchase monitoring chart.
  • Updating the supplier database.

5. Assisting in the procurement of goods and services
  • Representing the Field Logistics Officer in his absence
  • Participating in setting the procurement plan in collaboration with Field logistician and project staff.

6. Responsible for travel requirements, bookings and accommodation

7. Responsible for compound management
  • Ensuring the general cleanliness of the compound
  • Ensuring that all necessary repairs in the compound are done

8. Assisting in the implementation of the equipment and stores management and maintenance

9. Supervision, mentoring and training of the cleaners and gardener

Qualifications and skills required
  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies with at least 2 years practical experience in logistics or any other relevant Diploma with at least 3 years practical experience in Logistics
  • At least 2 years experience working with an International NGO or local NGO
  • Proven experience in accounts keeping and general administrative duties
  • Should possess the following attributes organization skills ,team player, communication, problem solving, innovative, attention to details and cost conscious
