USIU is looking to recruit qualified persons for the following position:

Administrative Assistant

Reporting to the Head to Maintenance, the successful candidate will provide administrative and secretarial support to the maintenance department.

Tasks and outputs:

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Head of maintenance Department, Operations Division in order to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Proactively handle the Dean’s diary to facilitate appointments and meetings as the need arises and enhance service delivery.
  • Handle verbal, written correspondences promptly to facilitate communication and information flow.
  • Office administration to ensure all issues relevant to the department are handled promptly
  • Handle construction  and  property management

Minimum qualifications
  • O level education with a mean grade average of C (plain)
  • 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Diploma in Secretarial studies

Competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Ability to pay attention to detail


Electrician

Reporting to the Head to Maintenance, the successful candidate will carry out electrical installations and repairs.

Tasks and outputs:

  • Undertake regular servicing of electrical installations and equipment to avoid breakdown in power supply.
  • Make periodic reports on functioning of alarms and all electrical installations.
  • Maintain log of job requisitions to track response time and material usage using an online maintenance system.
  • Monitor fire engine and perform periodic tests on the fire hydrant system.
  • Troubleshoot electrical installations and equipment to identify faults and initiate repairs.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail

Minimum qualifications
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) / O-Level Certificate
  • Diploma (KNEC/City & Guild or equivalent)
  • 3 Years of experience in a similar position


Carpenter

Reporting to the Head to Maintenance, the successful candidate will carry out carpentry and joinery work.

Tasks and outputs:

  • Build and repair furniture to meet various needs
  • Carry out routine inspection on furniture and fixtures to facilitate repairs
  • Keep log of job card requisitions to track response time and material usage using an online maintenance system
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Skills required:
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Artistic Skills

Competencies
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of workplace safety
  • Ability to pay attention to detail

Minimum Qualifications
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) / O-Level Certificate
  • Trade Test Grade 1
  • 3 Years of experience in a similar position
