The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) is a State Corporation established under the National Treasury pursuant to the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act No. 40 of 2011.

The primary mandate of the Authority is to obtain unclaimed financial assets from the holders of such assets on behalf of the Government, safeguard and re-unite the assets with their rightful owners.

UFAA would like to invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position:

Manager, Procurement

Job Ref: UFAA/07/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, s/he will be responsible for:
  • Leading the procurement function and overseeing all aspects of purchasing, negotiations and process implementation for procurement of goods and services
  • Preparing procurement guidelines in line with the law, procurement manual and financial rules and regulations of the Authority
  • Preparing procurement plan and guiding/monitoring its implementation in the Authority
  • Leading in preparation of tender documents for purchase of supplies and equipment
  • Promoting a positive corporate culture and ¡mage of the Authority. Secretary for the Authority’s Tender Committee

Person Profile
  • A Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management or comparable qualification from a university recognized by the Commission for University Education.
  • A Masters degree in Procurement, Logistics Management, Purchasing and Supplies or its equivalent;
  • At least 7 years relevant experience, 3 of which must be at a senior level;
  • Membership to a professional body


Manager, ICT

Job Ref: UFAA/06/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, s/he will be responsible for:
  • Planning, developing, coordinating and ensuring delivery of the Authority’s ICT needs including policy, operational manuals and Departmental budgets
  • Preparing technical specifications for procurement of hardware and software and liaising with vendors
  • Developing, maintaining and supporting Authority’s database, including network infrastructure, data communication and telecommunication systems and ICT security
  • Managing all installations, upgrades, enhancements, administration and maintenance of the ICT infrastructure and equipment, ensuring that the LAN, telephone systems and WAN are operational
  • Advising management on current and future ICT trends

Person Profile
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related discipline from a University recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Member of ICT professional body
  • Masters degree in relevant field.
  • At least 7 years working in a busy ICT environment with exposure in hardware, software and network applications, 3 of which should be at a senior management level
  • Experience with database management systems especially Oracle and SQL server platforms



Manager, Finance and Accounting

Job Ref: UFAA/05/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, s/he will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating financial functions of the Authority and ensuring compliance with financial standards and regulations for operational excellence of the Authority
  • Coordinating the budget formulation, preparation, execution, accounting and reporting
  • Ensuring appropriate and adequate financial management policies and information systems are in place
  • Advising the Authority on all accounting and financial matters
  • Designing and developing the Authority’s accounting and financial systems

Person Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance from a University recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Masters degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Management or any other relevant field
  • CPA (K) / ACCA holder and Membership to a relevant professional body
  • Competence with computerized accounting packages
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant professional experience, 3 of which must be at senior management position
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in government / public sector financial systems will be an added advantage


Manager, Audit & Risk

Job Ref: UFAA/04/2014

Job Profile

  • Reporting to the Board Audit Committee functionally and administratively to the CEO, s/he will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring the integrity of the Authority assets, quality of management decisions and mitigation of fraud and risk through the existence of appropriate internal controls and systems
  • Developing and reviewing internal audit manual and enforcing compliance with acceptable standards
  • Developing and implementing internal audit strategies and operating plans that reflect the long term corporate goals and priorities established by the Authority
  • Working closely with external auditors on time frames for the annual statutory audits, pre-audits activities, and the implementation of audit recommendation
  • Carrying out risk assessment and internal audits on computers and other operating systems to ensure reliability of financial and operating information, and advising the Board and management on corrective action

Person Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration (Accounting Option), Commerce, Finance or any other related field from a university recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Masters Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Management or any other relevant field
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) K or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Membership to a professional body
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible management experience in Auditing, 3 of which must be at senior management level
  • Proven experience in undertaking internal audits of organisations


Corporation Secretary

Job Ref: UFAA/03/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer, s/he will be responsible for the following:
  • Ensuring that the Authority complies with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Acting as a legal adviser to the CEO and/ the Board
  • Liaising with the Authority’s designated lawyers on litigation matters
  • Liaising with the Authority’s Auditors, Tax advisers, Bankers, Investment / Fund Managers and stakeholders on Board governance issues
  • Attending and taking minutes of Board meetings or any Committee thereof
  • Maintaining corporate records and filing statutory returns

Person Profile
  • A Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a university recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Postgraduate Diploma in legal studies from the Council of Legal Education and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or any other related field
  • Served for 7 years at a senior management level in the legal field either in the public service, private sector or be a practicing advocate with similar experience
  • A member of the Law Society of Kenya


Manager, Unclaimed Financial Assets Line

Job Ref: UFAA/02/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, s/he will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the Authority in its key activities including receiving, holding, investing and disbursing unclaimed financial assets
  • Ensuring that holders of unclaimed financial assets surrender them to the Authority
  • Carrying out inspection of unclaimed financial assets to ensure accurate reporting
  • Ensuring that all relevant information on unclaimed financial assets is submitted to the Authority and maintained in the database
  • Locating and notifying owners of the unclaimed financial assets
  • Assuming custody, on behalf of the Authority, the rights of unclaimed financial assets holder
  • Assisting the in the management of the Trust Fund
  • Assisting with the implementation of unclaimed financial assets policies and procedures

Person Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Economics, Finance or any other relevant field from a University recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, or any other related field
  • At least 7 years work experience on unclaimed financial assets especially on auditing or inspection of unclaimed assets
  • Knowledge and/or experience in fund management will be an added advantage
  • Membership to a professional body
  • Computer skills, especially ¡n computer auditing techniques, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint. Proficiency in fund administration software systems will be an added advantage


Chief Executive Officer

Job Ref: UFAA/01/2014

Job Profile

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer, will be responsible for:,
  • Providing visionary leadership and direction to the Authority and ensuring that the Authority’s mandates and policies are implemented fully and effectively in line with the strategic plan
  • Developing and implementing strategies for receiving, retaining, and reuniting unclaimed financial assets with their genuine owners or beneficiaries
  • Ensuring prudent management of resources for the achievement of the Authority’s mandate and strategic objectives
  • Establishing and sustaining effective relationships with the Board of Directors, the Government, the parent Ministry, and other stakeholders
  • Promoting a culture of compliance with regulations, statutory requirements, good corporate governance principles and best practices in the Authority
  • Acting as the Managing Trustee of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Trust Fund and the Authority’s spokesperson

Person Profile
  • Holder of a degree in Business, Economics, Finance or any other related field from a University recognized by the Commission for University Education
  • Master’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, strategic management, or related fields
  • At least 15 years work experience, 5 of which must be at top management level
  • Proficiency in MS Office computer packages. Proficiency in fund administration software systems will be an added advantage
  • A member of a professional body
  • Experience in financial management will be an added advantage

Terms and Conditions
  • Successful candidates for the above positions will be offered a competitive remuneration package.
  • Appointments will be for a contractual period of four (4) years renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
