Assistant Accountant

1 Post

Reporting to the Director Finance & Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Checking and coding of transactions  for posting to appropriate accounts
  • Posting of primary books to general ledger as required.
  • Preparing control account as per approved procedures
  • Preparing timely and accurate reports
  • Carrying out reconciliation of various account as required
  • Preparing trial balance and other related financial statements
  • Creating new codes for general ledger
  • Verifying various imprest, claims, as per approved procedures.
  • Preparing cashbook and posting to ledger as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any other related degree from a recognized University.
  • Certified Public Accountant CPA(K)

Skills and Competences
  • Possess good communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent team working skills, good organizational and social skills

Work Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years in a reputable organization.


Assistant Audit Officer

1 Post

Reporting to the Internal Auditor

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing of audit programmes and carrying out routine audit within the Board’s operations and activities
  • Recommending systems of internal controls and checks
  • Ascertaining compliance with established policies, plans, procedures and processes
  • Reviewing and appraising the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial and other operation controls and promoting effective controls
  • Evaluating and providing reasonable assurance that risk management, control and governance systems are functioning as intended and will enable the Boards objective and goals to be met.
  • Performing post implementation reviews of previous audit recommendations and report the status of implementation
  • Developing  and evaluating  test plans in accordance with professional Audit Standards
  • Preparing  periodic reports to the management and audit committee of the Board
  • Updating  records of audit plans, findings, work papers and reports

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
  • Certified Public Accountant CPA(K)
  • Certified Information System Auditor (CISA)
  • Skills and Competences

  • Highly organized with good time management skills

Work Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years working experience in a audit with a reputable firm


Technical Officer – Nuclear Safety

1 Post

The successful candidate shall be Reporting to the Director, Technical Affairs and will be responsible for implanting nuclear safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing corporate policies, norms, standards, procedures and strategies for KNEB
  • Planning, organizing and conducting safety assessments to enhance the capability of the Board in relation to the application of the IAEA safety standards.
  • Assessment of international nuclear safety issues in their complexity, including their international political and economic context in relation to the activities of the Board.
  • Providing a technical lead for safety assessment in various areas to further develop KNEB’s Safety programme.
  • Performing multi-disciplinary nuclear safety activities for all aspects of the nuclear power programme using internationally acceptable safety assessment tools
  • Planning, developing and implementing the domestication of IAEA's Basic Safety Standards and principles.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and regular review of the Board policy on nuclear safety.
  • Developing and maintaining nuclear safety awareness in the Board.
  • Ensuring that nuclear safety culture is developed and maintained within the Board and making proposals for integration in all relevant bodies without the Board.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering
  • MSc in Nuclear Safety

Senior Technical Officer - Safeguards and Nuclear Security

1 Position

The successful candidate shall be Reporting to the Director, Technical Affairs and will be responsible for site analysis, safeguards evaluation and implementation of nuclear security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing corporate policies, norms, standards, procedures and strategies for KNEB;
  • Evaluation of all requirements for a Nuclear Power Programme for integration into every aspect of planning for the implementation of the nuclear programme;
  • Ensuring recognition of obligations under non-proliferation treaties (NPT) and other international instruments in all aspects of the nuclear power programme;
  • Overseeing the planning of the development, implementation and enforcement of safeguards framework, including State System for Accounting for and Control of nuclear material (SSAC);
  • Overseeing the identification and implementation of requirements for security and physical protection for the country’s NPP including but not limited to security regulation;
  • Ensuring that current capabilities for nuclear waste processing, storage and disposal are comprehensively reviewed and solid proposals made for implementation;
  • Providing guidance on all considerations for siting of nuclear power plant(s) in the country to ensure comprehensive site analysis, characterization and choice of the most suitable sites.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Mechanical/Nuclear  Engineering
  • MSc in Engineering( MSC in Nuclear Engineering will be an added advantage)
  • Registered Professional Engineer by Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
  • IT user skills
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) user skills

Senior Technical Officer – Technology and Grid Analysis

1 Position

The successful candidate shall be Reporting to the Director, Technical Affairs and will be responsible   for undertaking technology assessment, nuclear fuel cycle and grid analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing corporate policies, norms, standards, procedures and strategies for KNEB;
  • Evaluation of all requirements of a Nuclear Power Programme for integration into every aspect of planning for the implementation of the nuclear programme;
  • Analysis and assessment of various nuclear technologies vis-à-vis conditions in the country in order to make recommendations on the most suitable options for consideration;
  • Analysis of all requisite capabilities of the electric grid system for integration of nuclear power plant(s), this will include full engagement in the grid study;
  • Overseeing the development of nuclear fuel cycle steps and approaches and recommendation of the best strategies for the country.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Electrical/ Nuclear Engineering
  • MSc in Engineering (MSC in Nuclear Engineering will be an added advantage)
