Position: Finance
Officer - Dadaab
Objective:
The Finance officer main responsibilities are to maintain sound financial
systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls to ensure appropriate
and cost-effective use of CVT financial resources.
Key Performance Areas &
Performance Indicators:
- Financial Policies, Procedures and Internal Controls are well implemented
- Maintain and implement effective financial systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls to ensure appropriate and cost-effective use of CVT financial resources;
- Review and account for all financial transactions to ensure they comply with budgets and regulations, and give guidance on the same.
- Track all wire transfers from Nairobi office.
- Review all Purchase Requests to ensure that supporting documentation is complete and that these meet CVT internal control requirements.
- Provide monthly payroll information for national and expat staff based in Dadaab and send to the Finance controller in Nairobi for consolidation and payment.
- Maintain a complete audit trail of all financial transactions.
- Collect and analyze all the invoices, receipts and payment memos, process the Payments and record the expenses in the system.
- Work closely with Field coordinator, logistics officer and Finance controller for the preparation of monthly Financial Reports and monthly projections and ensure timely submission to Nairobi office for consolidation.
- Prepare and send all PRs and other supporting documents to Nairobi office on a monthly basis.
- Monitor actual expenses against the approved budget and provide regular updates to the field coordinator and program supervisors.
- Work closely with the logistics officer in Dadaab and Field coordinator on procurement related issues.
- Work closely with the field coordinator and Finance controller in budget preparation and reviews.
- Work closely with the Logistics officer and Field coordinator on management of the Dadaab assets.
- Any other duties commensurate with the post.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BA/B .com degree in Accounting or similar;
- At least 5-10 years of relevant work experience;
- Preferred: Experience managing Donor funded projects, especially US Government funding and familiarity with compliance requirements of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Regulations;
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel);
- Good team player and able to work independently;
- Excellent people management skills;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills;
- Good communication and problem solving skills.
- Able to work in a multicultural set up
