Accountant Job in Nairobi Kenya

The Mater Hospital is seeking to fill the following position in Finance Department.

Vacancy: General Ledger Accountant

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

General Ledger Accounts reconciliation - including Banks reconciliation;
  • Ensure follow up with bank via emails and phone calls on unknown entries in the bank statements;
  • Preparing supporting schedules for Accounts Balance, as contained in Management Reports;
  • Update fixed deposit schedule, take note of renewal and expiry dates and obtain all necessary information that will facilitate optimal decision making on reinvestment or liquidation;
  • Ensure accurate posting of prepayment journals, bank charges and interest;

Monthly expenses variance Analysis;
  • Relocate photocopier costs to the appropriate cost centers;
  • Analyze and provide details of General Ledger account balances to head of departments/sections on a monthly basis;
  • Follow up with team members to ensure that assigned balance sheet schedules and reconciliations are done and submitted within the stipulated deadlines;

Maintain Journal Vouchers File;
  • Review daily petty cash reconciliation for accuracy and carry out weekly spot-checks to verify balances;
  • Ensure Chief Cashier carries out weekly cash count and reconciliation at all cash points;

Supervise all cash office activities;
  • Ensure cash registers are properly completed. This include end of shift, cash to be dropped, top up card reconciliation, top-up card stock, manual receipts and float handovers;
  • Review petty cash payments before reimbursement.

Minimum Requirements for the position:
  • Bachelors degree with concentration in Accounting and or Finance;
  • CPA Part II;
  • Computer Proficiency - Microsoft office tools and accounting packages;
  • At least 3 years relevant accounting experience.

The successful candidates must demonstrate ability to work under pressure, high level of accuracy, confidentiality, integrity, dependable and good analytical, supervision and time management skills.
