Our client an ICT/ Telecom Company in Nairobi is seeking to recruit for the position of a Telecom Solutions Technician.


Technician - Telecom Solutions

The incumbent will perform the following roles and responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Install analog and digital voice and data telecommunications equipment including PABX systems, key systems, and peripherals.
  • Complete work orders for additions, moves and changes, and repairs in one or more product lines as required by clients
  • Receive, plan and prioritize jobs/work orders via centralized dispatch on his/ her routes on a daily basis.
  • Submit all paperwork associated with jobs including: job cards, time spent per activity, equipment used, services provided, mileage logs, installation forms, site surveys and weekly expense reports.
  • Maintain a complete and updated truck inventory of all tools and equipment necessary to complete jobs.
  • Submit requests for additional supplies to their customer service coordinator on a timely basis.
  • Develop and maintain a current database on all products he/ she has work on CRM.
  • Pull, terminate and test cable as necessary
  • Diagnose, repair and adjust telephone and ancillary equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal down time
  • Communication with customer internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring all services, systems and applications using the available tools.
  • Incidents recording and tracking
  • Training end users on the various applications to maximize utilization of Telcom resources.

Customer Service
  • Provide rotating 24 hour on-call coverage.
  • Respond to any customer queries by directing their issues to the concerned manager and ensuring that the matter is resolved.
  • Ensure front-line customer satisfaction by dealing professionally and effectively with all internal and external customers.
  • Be the brand ambassador of the company by ensuring that services at the customer’s premises exceed their expectations.
  • Provide timely and accurate Management Information as agreed or on request.
  • Undertake company upgrading courses.
  • Work in liaison with the Customer Service department and Technical manager.
  • Attend company development projects either in a leading or assisting role.

Administrative Functions

Training new staff on Telecom protocols, company policies to ensure effective client service.
Read, understand and apply all the Telecom and other Policies and Procedures.

Academic Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements
  • Possess at least a Diploma in Telecommunications and/or Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years’ Telecommunication Installation industry experience.
  • Professional qualification in CCNA Voice, CCVP or specific training in relevant telecommunication equipment is desirable
  • Project Management and Audit Reviews.
  • Routing and Switching.
  • Products Knowledge
  • Structured Cabling Installation & Configuration.


Technician-NETSOL

The incumbent will be directly responsible for:

Project Management
  • Installation of point to point internet solutions
  • Structured Cabling, Termination of data points and LAN installations.
  • Installation of wireless networks and configuration of Access points.
  • Complete work orders for additions, moves and changes, and repairs in one or more product lines as required by clients
  • Submit all paperwork associated with jobs including: job cards, time spent per activity, equipment used, services provided, mileage logs, installation forms, site surveys and weekly expense reports.
  • Maintain a complete and updated track inventory of all tools and equipment necessary to complete jobs.
  • Submit requests for additional supplies to their customer service coordinator on a timely basis.
  • Develop and maintain a current database on all projects he/ she has work on CRM.
  • Communication with customer internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring all services, systems and applications using the available tools.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Information Technology / Telecommunication and Information Technology / Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a Higher National Diploma in Computer Networking / Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ Computer Networking Installation industry experience.
  • Extensive certification in Professional Routing and Switching courses.
