Summary: Our client is a venture capital
fund manager that develops and grows breakthrough businesses that that can
transform markets at the base of the pyramid (BoP) in East Africa by, for
example, offering low-income households access to affordable goods and services
such as healthcare, agriculture services, energy, housing, education and safe
water, or access to new opportunities as employees or producers.
They are
looking for a Finance
Manager to support the delivery of the fund’s potential through the
effective management of their financial systems.
The ideal
candidate will have experience working in startups and / or experience in
setting up financial systems, effectively managing and running the fund’s
finances on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement an appropriate financial accounting system
- Integrate the financial accounting system with the company’s CRM tool
- Prepare timely and accurate financial and management accounts for the company
- Manage the audit process including appointment of external auditors and overseeing their work and actioning the Auditors recommendations on areas of improvement
- Manage company taxation including identifying and advising on relevant tax obligations and filing and submission of tax returns. Ensure the fund complies with all relevant taxation requirements
- Put in place appropriate controls and procedures and ensure these are adhered to
- Set up the fund’s system for reporting on the aggregate financial performance of investee companies
- Provide accounting advice to investee companies
- Liaise with other accountants of the overall fund in Mauritius
Requirements
- Degree in accounting
- CPAK / ACCA equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IAS/ AFRS
- 5 years experience in finance with at least three years in a senior management role in finance preferably in a private equity firm
- Experience in working with, developing and implementing accounting systems
