Job Title: Account Manager - Kenya (East Africa)

Reporting To: Sales Director: Sub-Saharan Africa

Company Profile: Our client is the technology leader that designs and manufactures the electronic connectors, components and systems making them smarter, safer, greener and more connected.

Statement of Responsibility: The main responsibility for this role is to deliver on the sales revenue for East Africa for the entire Business product portfolio. Attract and retain talent as well as promote the company in the eyes of the stakeholders, including the Kenyan government, through a marketing and public relations campaign.

Key Responsibility

  • Maintain the product mix, pricing and margins according to the stipulated the company guidelines.
  • To maintain and develop existing and new end-customers through the appropriate propositioning and ethical sales methods.
  • A high level of service to ensure the delivery of the expected levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Internal liaison and relationships within the company departments is also a key to success.
  • Use customer and prospect contact activities tools and systems (e.g. Salesforce.com) and update relevant information held in these systems.
  • Plan/carry out/support local marketing activities to agreed budgets and timescales, and integrate personal sales efforts with other organised marketing activities, e.g. product launches, promotions, advertising, exhibitions and telemarketing.
  • Respond to and follow-up sales enquiries using appropriate methods. Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information.
  • Record, analyse, report and administer according to systems & requirements.    
  • Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate   methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
  • Attend and present at external customer and partner and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development.
  • Attend training and develop relevant personal knowledge, techniques & skills.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, and other requirements relating to the care of equipment.

  • High standard of ethics
  • Fluency in English is required. Being able to speak the local vernacular is an additional benefit.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Degree holder in Commerce, Sales, Marketing or Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in the Telecoms and/or related ICT sector.
  • Specific functional experience required in sales management, business development, channel management and/or general management with a good understanding of business process.
