Finlays is Kenya’s largest agricultural export group employing over 21,000 people and annually exporting over 300 million stems of flowers, 7 million kilos of vegetables, 26 million kilos of black tea and 3 million kilos of tea extract.

The organisation is geographically located in Nairobi, Naivasha, Kericho, Mt. Kenya and Mombasa and works with 1,200 vegetable out growers and 10,000 tea out growers.

We need dynamic individuals with strong supervisory, planning & organizing skills, interpersonal and communication skills and a team player to fill the following vacant positions in our Kericho operations.

8. Building Construction Works Supervisor

The job holder will
  • supervise various building construction works teams;
  • assign jobs to artisans within the construction sites and supervise them in order to ensure that work is carried out within the required timeframe, budget, specifications and quality;
  • ensure the building works equipment is maintained in good and safe working condition and that they are serviced and repaired regularly as per established company schedules;
  • maintain up to date inventory and ensure working conditions of all tools, materials, equipment and machinery used by the Building construction works section personnel;
  • order the materials of the right specifications and quantity for road repairs and ensure safe storage of the same; allocate materials to artisans and ensure they are efficiently used;
  • provide technical support on road maintenance; supervise, train and guide building construction employees;
  • keeping records and generate work related reports on prescribed forms;
  • ensuring efficient and effective use of resources;
  • observe and enforce health and safety procedures and requirements at the workplace.

Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma in Building/Construction or other relevant field.
  • Understanding of building construction works procedures and general building specifications.
  • 5 years relevant experience.
  • AutoCAD proficient.

9. Plumber

The job holder is expected to perform
  • plumbing works in the factory, estates, residential quarters and other facilities;
  • carry out repair and maintenance of steam installations in factories;
  • attend to breakdowns & repairs on water lines;
  • in pump installations;
  • undertake water meter readings;
  • observe and enforce health and safety procedures and requirements at the workplace.

Minimum Requirements
  • KCSE Level of Education
  • Certificate in Plumbing (At least GTT 3)
  • At least two (2) year working experience preferably in factories where there is steam generation and distribution.

10. Heavy Plant Supervisor

The job holder is expected to
  • provide leadership and overall supervision in Heavy Plant section;
  • assign jobs to mechanics within heavy plant section and supervise them;
  • keep and monitor a proper inventory of all tools, equipment and machinery used in the section;
  • distribute materials to mechanics and ensure that they are used efficiently;
  • order the right materials/spare parts for use by the section mechanics;
  • ensure compliance to occupational health and safety requirements;
  • provide technical support to all customers;
  • keeping records and generate reports as and when required;
  • control overtime, materials and transport.

Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering (Heavy plant option).
  • 5 years relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of Company policies and departmental procedures

11. Heavy Plant Mechanic

  • The job holder is expected to service and repair company heavy equipment which include but not limited to
  • earth moving, road construction and Forestry equipment and high capacity diesel generators;
  • keep all tools, equipment and machinery used in heavy plant section safe and in good condition;
  • identify required materials/spare parts and initiate their procurement;
  • ensure that resources within the section are used efficiently;
  • ensure compliance to occupational health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering - Heavy plant option (candidates in craft/certificate level but with wide experience will be considered).
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

12. Assistant Transport Coordinator

The job holder will assist in
  • providing leadership and supervision in Transport section;
  • receive vehicle requests from customers and fulfill their requirements efficiently;
  • assign jobs to drivers and supervise them;
  • ensure that vehicles used in the section are maintained in road worthy condition by liaising closely with drivers, Garage Foreman and Management;
  • ensure compliance to occupational health and safety requirements including company road safety rules;
  • keep and generate reports on vehicle usage as and when required;
  • assist the section management in areas of cost control e.g. overtime, materials and transport.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum driving experience of 10 years in a busy similar set up
  • Candidates who have successfully handled supervisory responsibilities will have distinct advantage
  • Computer literate with hands on experience; knowledge of HIT is an advantage

13. Tarmac Roads Supervisor

The job holder is expected to
  • provide leadership and overall supervision in sections of the Roads to ensure that Road works are carried out effectively and efficiently;
  • assign jobs to artisans within the tarmac roads section and supervise them in order to ensure that work is carried out within the required time frame, budget, specifications and quality;
  • ensure the tarmac roads equipment is maintained in good and safe working condition;
  • keep and monitor a proper inventory of all tools, materials, equipment and machinery used by the tarmac roads section;
  • distribute materials to artisans and ensure that they are used efficiently;
  • order materials of  the right specifications and quantity for road repairs and ensure safe storage of the same;
  • ensure compliance to occupational health and safety requirements for the team;
  • supervise, train and guide road construction and maintenance team;
  • keep records and generate work related reports on prescribed forms;
  • stand in for the murram roads foreman whenever need arises.

Minimum Requirements
  • Ordinary Diploma / Diploma in Civil Engineering/Diploma in Highways
  • Proper understanding of use of bitumen emulsions and cutback bitumen.
  • Proper understanding of road construction procedures and general road specifications
  • Minimum related work experience of 5 years in a busy similar set up.
  • AutoCAD proficient.
