OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children) Program

Reformed Church of East Africa (RCEA) is faith based organization whose mission is to preach the word of God and providing a holistic service to the community.

RCEA implements community development activities under its structures.

We seek therefore to recruit staff for a 5-year OVC program funded by USAID scheduled to begin in 2014.

The program will cover 5 counties in North Rift region: Turkana, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Keiyo / Marakwet.

The positions and basic qualifications are listed below:

1. Project Manager

Work with the RCEA leadership and provide overall project management and leadership to the Watoto Wazima Project

Qualifications and experience
  • Master’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work or Community Development or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management (design, implementation and management)
  • High level of integrity, accountability and transparency
  • Excellent Interpersonal, coordination, supervisory skills and ability to manage relationships (GOK, private sector – NGO and Community)
  • Community mobilization skills and Practical experience working with communities
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical, organizational and report writing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of OVC programming including ability to advocate for the rights of children.
  • Ability to work in stressful and demanding environment to meet project deadlines
  • Experience in USAID funded Projects and particularly OVC/Home Based Care will be an added advantage.

2. Project Finance Officer

(1 Position)

Work with the RCEA Accountant to provide financial management that meets donor requirements

Qualifications and experience
  • A degree in accounting or finance or its equivalent
  • Professional accounting qualification CPA II
  • Proven leadership, good knowledge in donor accounting and financial management systems
  • Proficiency in computer applications, excellent working experience with an ERP system
  • At least 3 years work experience in NGO project/program accounting
  • Experience in USAID financial management requirements is an added advantage

3. ICT Officer

(1 Position)

Qualifications and experience
  • Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in IT or computer science or its equivalent
  • Professional certifications in Microsoft certification MCITP or other similar industry certifications desirable§ Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Server, Active Directory
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Office 200X and Win XP, Win7
  • Good working knowledge of ICT Asset inventory administration and management
  • Good working knowledge of hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in some of the following ICT related activities, including wide or local area network administration, desktop hardware or software support, ICT operations support, security support and database administration in a service delivery environment
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar field

4. OVC Manager

(1 Position)

Qualifications and experience
  • Degree in Sociology, Social Work or Community Development or a closely related field. Masters’ degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Project Management (design, implementation and management)
  • High level of integrity, accountability and transparency
  • Excellent Interpersonal, coordination, supervisory skills and ability to manage relationships (GOK, private sector – NGO and Community)
  • Community mobilization skills and Practical experience working with communities

5. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

(1 Position)

Qualifications and experience
  • Degree in public or business administration, information management, statistics, demography, sociology or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Professional training in M&E, statistical packages and project management highly desirable.
  • At least 3 years working experience in field research, word processing, database development and use of spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professional competence in project reporting, monitoring and evaluation capability in work performance.
  • Excellent in quantitative and qualitative skills in data analysis and processing.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and demanding environment to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of USAID systems and reporting requirements will be an added advantage.

6. Administrative Assistant

(1 Position)

Qualifications and experience
  • Diploma in business administration or other related relevant course from a recognized institution.
  • Computer proficiency with excellent computer skills
  • Office and record management skills
  • Enthusiastic, result oriented, self-confident and able to handle stressful situations.
  • Good communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
