The National Empowerment Network of People living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya (NEPHAK) is a national network that unites people living with HIV (PLHIV) and those affected by TB and AIDS through community based organizations such as post-test clubs, support groups, men’s associations, carers associations, women groups, youth groups and non-governmental organizations including PLHIV networks.

NEPHAK works in partnership with relevant government of Kenya institutions and structures.

NEPHAK is currently looking for qualified professionals to support its operations in the following positions:

1. Finance Officer

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the position is responsible for processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records of the organization, providing adequate accounting information, ensuring compliance with financial policies, systems and procedures, maintain accounting controls, proper custody of financial records, and safeguarding the assets of the organization.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
  • Financial Management - Support the development and implementation of, and ensure adherence to financial management policies, systems and procedures including computerized financial systems to cover general ledger and fixed assets aimed at improving financial reporting and accounting for acquisitions, maintenance, valuation, depreciation, capitalization, replacement and disposal of assets.
  • Processing Financial Transactions, Banking, maintaining up to date Financial Records and any other duties as may be assigned.

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in accounting packages (Knowledge of Sage Pastel will be an added advantage).

  • Auditing skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or any other related field and CPA II.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar position preferably in an NGO environment.

2. Field Officer – Western Region

Reporting to the Programme Officer, the position supports the development and carries out the implementation of NEPHAK projects as per strategies set out by NEPHAK in Western Kenya Region.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
  • Support the design, planning and implementation of NEPHAK program strategies, agendas and campaigns in Western Region.
  • Support the development and implementation of budgets and ensure controls for programs function
  • Manage, monitor progress of NEPHAK sub-sub recipients (SSR) and sub grantees (SG) implementation of projectsin Western region
  • Receive and consolidate reports from SSRs and SGs. Review financial reports submitted by SSRs ans SGs and verify correctness, accuracy and completeness before submission to NEPHAK Secretariat.
  • Compile and produce quality, accurate and timely program reports and documents as is appropriate
  • In a timely manner, support the submission of complete and relevant reports to NEPHAK.
  • Ensure NEPHAK maintains a framework which provides it with linkage to national coordination structures; NACC, NASCOP and DLTLD.
  • Maintain the NEPHAK Kakamega field office
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned

  • Good knowledge of public policy particularly in areas of health and education.
  • Must have good interpersonal relation and team orientation.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and manage complex relationships.
  • Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel long distances and work longer hours

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Development, Social Sciences, Sociology or any other relevant fields.
  • Training or certificate in Project Management or Training/Facilitation skills (Training of Trainers).
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in the development sector.
