Logistics and Procurement
Assistant (Garowe, Puntland)
CARE is an
International NGO working in Somalia.
CARE is
looking for suitable candidate to fill the position of Logistic and Procurement
Assistant based in Garowe, Puntland for Support Program.
Job Summary
The purpose
of this position is to assist the Logistics and Procurement officer to provide
Procurement/logistical support to CARE Garowe office and all its field
operations and sub offices while linking with our Nairobi operations.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Procurement and
Inventory
a. Assist
procurement and Logistics officer receiving requests from different sections
and prepare purchase plans with a view of ensuring cost effectiveness, timely
procurement and quality of goods and present Logistic and Procurement Officer.
b. Ensure
procurement procedures are carried out in line with Care international policy
and the Minimum Standards. Ensure donor procurement policies, guidelines and
specific requirements are strictly met.
II. Transportation
& Freight
a. Arrange
for transportation of goods and equipments between offices or to field sites and
ensure that the goods are securely packaged and loaded to prevent damage during
transportation.
b. Compile
accurate documentation relating to the movement of items between locations,
whether as a transfer or for distribution.
III. Assets
Management/Warehouse Management
a.
Maintain/Assist the Logistics and Procurement Officer to maintain the Assets
and Equipment Register for the field office. Coordinate with staff and the
Logistics Officer to ensure that all the changes to the assets & equipments
locations, conditions are reflected timely and correctly.
b. If
responsible for assets, ensure that the assets that are issued to staff are
authorised, recorded and necessary paper work exists in assets file, as per
Care international policies.
c. Ensure/assist
the Logistics Officer to ensure that all assets are properly maintained and
looked after. Any misuse and abuse is reported up the chain.
Required Qualifications and
Experiences
- Degree/Diploma in business administration/Logistics or supply chain management
- Minimum 2 years proven work experience procurement and logistics management within a busy working environment such as financial institutes or INGOs
- Good English language command.
- Good computer and writing skills.
- Supportive personnel management style.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to work as part of a professional team
- Ability to work under high pressure to meet tight deadlines.
