Field Sales Representative / Medical Representative Job in Kenya

Our client is a leading pharmaceutical company in Kenya, serving both the wholesale and the retail markets.

In line with their growth strategy, they are looking for dynamic marketing executives / medical representatives to serve in designated territories.

Position: Field Sales Representative / Medical Representative

Reporting to the group sales director, the ideal will be tasked with promoting pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical product sales through effective interaction with health care professionals, hospitals, clinics, institutions and other healthcare service providers to increase the awareness and use of the company’s products within their respective territories.

Salary: Competitive Retainer Package + Commissions

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Source for orders directly from customers
  • Arranging appointments with doctors, pharmacists, procurement officers and hospital medical teams;
  • Making presentations to doctors, practice staff and nurses, hospital doctors and pharmacists in the retail sector;
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with medical staff and supporting administrative staff;
  • Keeping detailed records of all contacts, maintaining an updated database of all clients;
  • Call customers from the office to source for orders in-case one is not in the field
  • Communicate and advice customers on new products, discounts, promotional offers and any products that are out of stock.
  • Liaising with the stores manager to ensure that all the invoiced products are dispatched and credit notes are raised for any products out of stock.
  • Predict customer requirements /re-order level depending on the season or customer’s history.
  • From time to time to visit customers at their premises to collect feedback on our goods and services and their payment plan.
  • Ensure that all complaints by customers are addressed to immediately and fully settled / to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Delivering statements to our customers who are enroute and as may be requested from time to time by the operations director.
  • Calling debtors to follow-up on payments for goods sold to them on credit and collecting cheques as they fall due and cash as they deliver products.
  • Inform and advice management about seminars, conferences, shows and any other related events in the market that will help promote company products.
  • Delivering of products, samples and promotional materials to our customers from time to time.
  • Planning, calling and meeting directors of potential customers to market our products to them.
  • Liaise with the sales team in the office to ensure orders given are supplied to our customers on a timely basis.
  • Do an evaluation of our customers on field visitations to advise management on setting of credit limits based on the due diligence.
  • Gather market intelligence reports for the company from the field to shape decision making.

Other Added Assignments
  • Prepare and submit Weekly and Monthly reports to the sales director.
  • Participating in the preparation of up-dated pricelists, samples, data collection forms, field trip budgets and field timetables / route plans on timely basis.
  • Advising and planning for trips to specific clients where he/she might need to be backed-up by top management or technical staff.

The ideal candidate
  • The candidate must have excellent communication skills i.e. fluent in both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
  • A diploma in veterinary or pharmacy from a reputable, PPB certified institution is an added advantage. Non-medical practitioners with progressive sales/marketing experience in the health sector shall also be considered.
  • Must be a go-getter who knows how to close sales and build an empire of good customers.
  • At least a diploma level training in sales and marketing will be an asset
  • Ability to sell through an integrated computer system e.g. Pharmacore or Pharmasoft etc.
  • A person of un-questionable integrity (referees MUST recommend on this aspect).
  • Organization, planning, analytical and interpersonal skills are paramount requisites.
  • Ability to deliver results independently with minimal supervision.
  • Aged not more than 35 years
