Faulu was the first Micro Finance Institution in Kenya to be licensed by the Central Bank as a deposit taking institution.

In line with the growing business needs, the organization is seeking highly competent, focused and results oriented professionals to fill the following positions in our business development department.

Business Development Manager (BDM)-SME

Job Summary: The job holder will work closely with the Head of Business Development to drive business growth and development in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector in liaison with the branches.

This is a senior sales position which directly supports branch managers and their Relationship Officers to identify, develop, close sales opportunities and maximize revenue and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of the annual business plan of the department in line with the corporate strategy.
  • Formulation, monitoring and evaluation of strategic initiatives and performance targets for branches and Relationship Officers in SME
  • Performance management for the SME Relationship Officers.
  • Develop new income lines while optimizing the existing income lines.
  • Drive and maintain a high quality SME loan portfolio, deposits and non-interest income
  • Development and retention of a highly motivated and performing Relationship officers.
  • Training, coaching and empowerment of the ROs beyond the targets.
  • Promote the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation;
  • In Liaison research and product development team , Initiate a review of the existing SME products and services or development of new SME products and services in line with customer needs and strategy
  • Ensure successful roll outs/implementation of new SME products and services.
  • Drive SME assets and liabilities through offering leadership and motivation to the branches.
  • Work closely with other Business Development Managers to identify, develop and maximize on business opportunities.
  • Provide superior level of customer relationship management with the objective of developing, deepening, and retaining relationships with the existing and new clients.
  • Prospect for, structure, arrange and close strategic business partnerships between Faulu and other partners.
  • Monitor and ensure 100% compliance to all the company policies, processes, procedures and other controls within the product/branches portfolio.
  • Promotion of Faulu’s brand visibility and image.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field (Master’s in Business Administration is Desirable).
  • At least 5 year relevant experience in managing sales within a banking environment out of which 3 years should be in a managerial role (Demonstrated leadership in SME /Individual lending is a MUST)
  • SME Credit analysis skills.
  • Excellent Sales / Marketing, Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, Customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills.
  • Ability to accurately plan work assignments, prioritize tasks and deliver deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible–ability to travel across the country frequently.

Business Support Manager (BSM)

Reporting to the Head of Business Development the job holder will ensure smooth flow of business by offering strategic and administrative support to the branches, while ensuring that the business
processes are efficient and responsive to customer needs.

The job holder will be required to liaise with other leaders in other departments and senior management to ensure business related SLAs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development & Implementation of the annual business plan of the department in line with the corporate strategy.
  • Monitoring of branch performance and individual branch staff productivity and recommend remedial measures to relevant business leaders.
  • Identify training gaps and coordinate staff training in liaison with HR.
  • Ensure prompt approvals of branch imprests in line with branch budgets as well as review of branch financials against budgets.
  • Promote a positive and proactive approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Ensure that business processes are efficient and TAT is honored at all levels.
  • Co-ordinate loan approvals with Credit department and ensure prompt and proactive customer service.
  • Review all business processes in liaison with departmental heads from time to time recommend changes /automation.
  • Continuous liaison and relationship building with various departments within the organization.
  • Work closely with administration department in identification and sourcing of new business premises and ensure that new business units are completed according to plan.
  • Ensure that branches are optimally resourced at all times with people, physical assets, financial and other necessary resources.
  • Offer leadership to the business support team, coaching, mentoring and management of performance of the team.

Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 5 year relevant experience in banking /DTM of which 3 years should be in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field (Master’s in Business Administration is Desirable).
  • Credit/sales experience in Consumer, Micro & SME, and Group Business Preferred.
  • Basic Accounting skills.
  • Excellent Sales / Marketing, Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, Customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Good MS office skills.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills.
  • Ability to accurately plan work assignments, prioritize tasks and deliver deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible–ability to travel across the country frequently.
