Clerk of Works Job Vacancy

The Kipipiri CDF is a public entity that endeavours to fulfil the objectives of the CDF Act 2013 i.e. Infrastructural Development, Wealth creation and Fight against poverty in the Constituency.

The Kipipiri CDF is therefore seeking to fill the following position:

Position: Clerk of Works

Location: Kipipiri CDF Office – Kipipiri Constituency

The Role

Reporting to the Fund Account Manager – Kipipiri Constituency and Kipipiri CDF Committee, the holder of this position will be expected to offer support to Kipipiri CDF in order to ensure provision of timely, complete, consistent, relevant and reliable information to Kipipiri CDF Committee and other users.

Major Responsibilities/Duties
  • Assist in the Preparation of standard BOQs,Plans and Designs in consultation with relevant technical Departments/officer(s) for all infrastructural projects funded by Kipipiri CDF
  • Assist in preparation of tender documents to be used by PMC’s
  • Ensure that project cost estimates are as realistic as possible.
  • Ensure that correct materials and workmanship are used as per the client’s standards, specification and schedule.
  • Familiarizes with all the drawings and written instructions, checks and uses them as a yardstick for inspection of works.
  • Make regular inspection visits to project sites to monitor progress of on-going works.
  • Take measurements and sample on site to make sure that the work and the materials meet the specifications and quality standards.
  • Is familiar with legal requirements and ensures that the work complies with the law.
  • Has a working knowledge of health and safety legislation and points out any observed shortfall.
  • Keeps detailed record on progress and any delays, the number and types of workers employed, visitors to the site, drawings received, deliveries, instructions, and any serious deficiencies in health or safety requirements observed on site.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Fund Manager or/and Kipipiri CDF Committee.

Competencies
  • A minimum of a diploma in building and construction, engineering, quantity survey or equivalent from a recognized training institute.
  • Two years of progressive work experience
  • An understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods and legal requirements.
  • Ability to write report on the progress of work.
  • Knowledge in Accurate record keeping.
  • Good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers especially Microsoft Office Packages, any other software used in the construction industry
